Third Rail Projects follows up its critically acclaimed, long-running production of THEN SHE FELL with the World Premiere of THE GRAND PARADISE, a fully immersive, multi-sensory experience in which visitors travel to a tropical paradise. Based on a concept by Tom Pearson, it is directed, designed, written and choreographed by Zach Morris, Tom Pearson, and Jennine Willett in collaboration with The Company and produced in association with Bill Caleo and Zach Stern. Performances take place at The Grand Paradise, a venue in Bushwick, Brooklyn custom-built for the production. Preview performances begin January 28 with an official opening date of January 30, 2016. Going to the theater is an intimate experience.  We are pulled out of our everyday lives and isolated realities to immerse ourselves collectively in a story.  We give over the reigns of control for a set amount of time and just absorb.  On rare occasions, we find a story that moves us so thoroughly that we see the world from a different perspective when we awake from the dreamlike state.  Mark St. Germain's latest masterpiece, DANCING LESSONS, is one of those compelling stories. It opened at the Orlando Shakespeare Theater this weekend with sold out performances. (more...)

For its 14th consecutive season at the Kennedy Center, Russia's legendary Mariinsky Ballet returns with Marius Petipa's RAYMONDA, widely considered the last "grand ballet" of the 19th century. George Balanchine, who began his career in the Mariinsky corps, once called Alexander Glazunov's score, filled with spirited rhythms and lilting waltzes, "some of the finest ballet music we have." Performances run February 23-28, 2016 in the Kennedy Center Opera House and will be accompanied by the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, conducted by Gavriel Heine. (more...)
