AOP (American Opera Projects), and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture will co-present an evening of scenes from Nkeiru Okoye's folk opera Harriet Tubman: When I Crossed That Line to Freedom that tells of how a young girl born in slavery, becomes Harriet Tubman, the legendary Underground Railroad conductor. The musical excerpts will be followed by an artist Q&A moderated by WQXR's Terrance McKnight. York Announces MUSICAL IN MUFTI Winter 2013 Lineup

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) has announced the four-show line-up for its Winter 2013 Musicals in Mufti Series featuring the music works of legendary Broadway writers Richard Rodgers, Cole Porter, Howard Lindsay & Russel Crouse and two by George S. Kaufman. The roster of Broadway musicals include Two by Two (February 15-17, 2013), Hollywood Pinafore (March 1-3, 2013), Happy Hunting (March 15-17, 2013), and Silk Stockings (March 22-24, 2013) at The York Theatre Company at its home in Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). Losing LeBron, directed by Nicole Prowell Hart and Allyson Sherlock, examines the impact of NBA star LeBron James' decision to leave the city of Cleveland. Told through the eyes of the fans he left behind, the feature-length film explores why sports are so important to the struggling city. Losing LeBron will be available to rent/own on digital VOD (Video On Demand) via iTunes, Amazon Prime, Google Play, Xbox, PlayStation, Vimeo on Demand, VuDu, VHX, Distrify, and others.
