Gil Morgenstern's Reflections Series International Presents 'Beauty Born of Terror' November 21

On Thursday, November 21 at 7:30pm, violinist and artistic director Gil Morgenstern will present the second concert of his acclaimed Reflections Series International 2013-2014 Season at Avenues: The World School (259 Tenth Ave.). The program is titled "Beauty Born of Terror" and will explore the endurance of hope and spirituality amid the cataclysmic horrors of the twentieth century through music, literature and projected imagery. Of the subject Morgenstern explains, "No one chooses the place, the time, or the circumstances of his or her birth; notes and words have even less choice. Lincoln Center Announces OUT OF DOORS 2014 Summer Festival Lineup; Runs 7/20-8/10

PEN American Center announced today that acclaimed writer Colm Toibin will serve as Chairman of the PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature, beginning with next year's Festival. Founded and chaired by Salman Rushdie for a decade, the Festival brings together writers and public intellectuals from around the globe to encourage cross-cultural dialogues on issues central to individual rights and freedoms. Executive Director Jonathan Josephson, Producing Artistic Director Jeff G. Rack and Artistic Director Paul Millet have announced the cast for tonight's April 12th (6pm-12am) fundraiser, A Night at the Mausoleum II. The evening is headlined by a staged reading of Kick the Can, one of legendary TV-writer George Clayton Johnson's episode of The Twilight Zone.
