Sundance Institute today announced the addition of two films to the 2014 Sundance Film Festival: Wish I Was Here (Director: Zach Braff) to the Premieres section
Sundance Institute today announced that the newly restored Hoop Dreams (1994) will screen in the From the Collection program at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, 20 years after the film made its world premiere at the 1994 Festival. The recently completed restoration represents the collaborative effort of Sundance Institute, UCLA Film & Television Archive, the Academy Film Archive and Kartemquin Films. Filmmakers Steve James, Peter Gilbert and Frederick Marx and subject Arthur Agee are expected to participate in an extended Q&A immediately following the January 20 screening. The 2014 Festival will be January 16-26 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.
Dr. Barbara Ann Teers's National Black Theatre (NBT) will open its 45th Season with the New York Premiere of The Last Saint On Sugar Hill, written by Keith Josef Adkins and directed by Seret Scottannounced NBT's Director of Theatre Arts Program, Jonathan McCrory. Preview performances begin tonight, October 29th at NBT, 2031 Fifth Avenue starting at 7:30pm. The opening night is set for Friday, November 1st at 7pm. The production will run through Sunday, November 24th.
Daniel Harding, awarded the Premio Abbiati by Italian music critics as best conductor of 2011, celebrates Wagner's centenary with the Prelude and Death of Isolde, the symphonic piece with which Wagner introduced Tristan und Isolde in concert halls while he was still struggling to have it performed in theaters. Harding, conducts La Scala's philharmonic orchestra in a classic MusicEmotion concert to be broadcast Sunday, October 20, noon at Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Avenue. Sundance Institute announced today 19 members of five juries awarding prizes at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. Short Film Awards will be announced at a ceremony on January 22 at Park City's Jupiter Bowl, with feature film awards announced at a separate ceremony on January 26.
