KOAT Albuquerque is reporting that the fire which destroyed Musical Theatre Southwest on Tuesday was the result of arson. As previously reported the theatre warehouse that housed the Musical Theatre Southwest burned to the ground yesterday. The fire began Tuesday afternoon and continued to burn into the day on Wednesday. Despite the fire department's efforts the roof of The Warehouse caved in. (more...)

Known for its Mainstage productions, which have included regional premieres as well as, classic Broadway productions, and its one-of-a-kind Children's Theatre, which bring original musical adaptations of fairytales to life on the stage, Way Off Broadway is set to blend the two for what is being billed as a 'Family Theatre' presentation. Casting for the 60th Music Circus season is nearing completion. After auditioning performers in New York, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California Musical Theatre Artistic Director Glenn Casale is finalizing the acting company for the seven-show season at the Wells Fargo Pavilion. The company is expected to include Broadway veterans, including Tony Award nominees, television comedians, up-and-coming young actors and plenty of returning Music Circus favorites. Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has announced that Zach Braff, Bobby Cannavale, Sutton Foster, and Ari Graynor will co-star in the world premiere comedy TRUST, written by Paul Weitz, directed by Peter DuBois. Mr. Weitz returns to Second Stage Theatre, where his plays Privilege and Show People premiered in 2005 and 2006, respectively. Directed by Peter DuBois, who staged Second Stage's acclaimed production of Becky Shaw, TRUST will begin previews on Friday, July 23 at Second Stage Theatre (305 West 43rd street) and officially open on Thursday, August 12.
