Review - One Man, Two Guvnors & The Lyons
by Ben Peltz - May 7, 2012

Broadway audiences can be forgiven if they don't quite recall being introduced to James Corden six years ago as one of The History Boys' ensemble of Oxbridge hopefuls, but in Richard Bean's One Man, Two Guvnors, the loveable harlequin makes an unforgettable sophomore appearance, taking center stage in an uproarious evening of slapstick, music and comical hijinks.

Nominee Reactions: Kathleen Marshall - '10 nominations is a really nice round number'
by Robert Diamond - May 1, 2012

'I'm so excited for the show! 10 nominations is a really nice round number. My husband and I were watching NY1 this morning and simultaneously trying to get our twins out the door to go to music class. So, we were wrangling them and watching the nominations at the same time. My husband Scott Landis is a producer for NICE WORK and for VENUS IN FUR so we were especially thrilled. We're a quadruple nomination household! The cast is performing on David Letterman on Thursday so we have a rehearsal for that. I'm thrilled that i'll get to see them!'

Nominee Reactions: Judy Kaye for NICE WORK 'Elated to Be in the Show'
by Robert Diamond - May 1, 2012

'I'm doing pretty good! Although I just had an experience on the New Jersey Turnpike that put things into perspective for me. There was a terrible accident right in front of us! It definitely put things into perspective. I'm elated about all of this. I'm elated to be in the show and to have this marvelous cast surrounding me- to get to work with Kelli, and Michael, and Kathleen. It's all a wonderful gift as always. I happened to have turned on the TV this morning and there it was in front of me. It knew it was coming but I had forgotten they were today! I'm opening wonderful emails from friends and then I'm gonna go do this wonderful show that I'm in. It's been an esspecially great week for me because I just celebrated 25th wedding anniversary too!'

Nominee Reactions: Kelli O'Hara for NICE WORK - 'It feels very overindulgent'
by Robert Diamond - May 1, 2012

'I feel great - calm and good! My husband came in and told me this morning. We both had messages on our phones because we had them off. I try not to put too much pressure on the situation. He told me to wake up and it was a great way to start the day! This one feels different for me. I'm so excited and relieved- it makes you feel good and validated, though I hate to admit it. It feels very overindulgent because the show had been so fun, easy, and effortless. I love the people involved and it's been the icing on an already big cake. I'll do my show with my great cast and crew tonight and we'll all celebrate that we've been recognized. It's great- it makes you feel like you've already won.'

Nominee Reactions: Joe DiPietro for NICE WORK 'I'm a Kid at Heart'
by Robert Diamond - May 1, 2012

Joe DiPietro, Best Book of a Musical for NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT 'I gotta say, I'm a kid at heart with this stuff so hearing about my Tony nomination and 10 for the show just makes me feel about 12 years old again! It was thrilling morning. This afternoon I have a work session with my writing partner David Bryan, so that to me is celebration - getting to work on the next on! These nominations are a testament to Matthew Broderick and Kelli O'Hara and all of the hard work everyone has put into the show.'

Review - Clybourne Park & The Sound of Music
by Ben Peltz - Apr 30, 2012

It took two years, a Pulitzer Prize and an Olivier Award-winning London production before happening, but Bruce Norris' searing satire, Clybourne Park, has finally made the six-block transfer from Off-Broadway's Playwright's Horizon to Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre.  The original ensemble of director Pam MacKinnon's excellent 2010 production has been reunited for the playwright's scathing telling of the racial integration of a Chicago neighborhood, as seen through the history of one very significant home.
