A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed repertory theatre company, stages Henrik Ibsen?s Ghosts, a haunting tale of unrequited passion, revelation and horror, which opens Saturday, March 21 and runs through Saturday, May 9, 2009 (previews begin Saturday, March 14). Directed by Michael Murray, the cast features Mark Bramhall (Estrand), Alex Feldman (Oswald), Rebecca Mozzo (Regina), Deborah Strang (Mrs. Alving) and Joel Swetow (Manders).

New York City Opera's acclaimed VOX: Showcasing American Opera series marks its 10th anniversary on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2, at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place, at Washington Square South) at New York University. New York City Opera's annual VOX series demonstrates the company's commitment to the development of American opera, giving a free-of-charge platform to new or previously unperformed American operas. Louis G. Theatre for a New Audience and director, Arin Arbus, is set to present Othello. The show will feature John Douglas Thompson as Othello, Ned Eisenberg as Iago, and Juliet Rylance as Desdemona. Previews begin February 14 at 7 pm. The show opens February 22.

In honor of Black History Month, City Opera co-presents a three-part series, Black History at New York City Opera, with the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. The first program, 'I'm on My Way': Black History at City Opera on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, commemorates the rich African-American contributions to City Opera's heritage and the great African-American works and artists who have graced City Opera's stage. Continuing with 'One Fine Day': A Tribute to Camilla Williams on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 and 'Troubled Island': 60th Anniversary Celebration on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, the programs feature discussion, live performance, special guests, historic slides and audio and video clips. All three events take place at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, located at 15 Malcolm X Boulevard in New York City.

The Board of Directors of New York City Opera has announced the appointment of George Steel as the company's new General Manager and Artistic Director. Mr. Steel is expected to assume his responsibilities as of February 1, 2009.

Soprano Lauren Flanigan sings the role of Cleopatra opposite baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes, in his New York City Opera debut, as Antony. The cast includes rising tenor Simon O'Neill as Caesar and City Opera favorites David Pittsinger as Enobarbus, Sandra Piques Eddy as Charmian and Laura Vlasak Nolen as Iras. City Opera Music Director George Manahan will conduct. The company's celebration of Samuel Barber's upcoming centennial will also include a Symposium on Antony and Cleopatra on Saturday, January 10, co-presented by and taking place at Miller Theatre at Columbia University, which will feature City Opera soprano Elizabeth Futral in a unique recital of musical depictions and evocations of Cleopatra.

As previously announced Kathleen Turner and Mr. Busch will appear as dueling divas.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) has announced that Tony® award winner Mary-Louise Parker (Hedda Gabler), Tony® award winner Michael Cerveris (Jorgen Tesman), Paul Sparks (Ejlert Lovborg) and Peter Stormare (Judge Brack) in a new Broadway production of Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen. The production features a new adaptation by Christopher Shinn and will be directed by Ian Rickson.

Sam Mendes directs a transatlantic company of actors in a double-bill of classic works for The Bridge Project's inaugural 2009 season, which pairs a new version of The Cherry Orchard by Tom Stoppard with The Winter's Tale. A formidable transatlantic company and creative team will mount these two new productions for seven internationally renowned theaters. Simon Russell Beale leads the British/American cast, playing Lopakhin in The Cherry Orchard and Leontes in The Winter's Tale. Bass-Baritone David Pittsinger will assume the role of Emile de Becque in Lincoln Center Theater's Tony Award winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, during two upcoming periods when the production's current Emile de Becque, baritone Paulo Szot, leaves the musical to honor two previously scheduled opera commitments.

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company continues its 2008-09 Season with Boom by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, author of Hunter Gatherers, winner of the 2007 Steinberg New Play Award.

Jeffrey Kuhn and Francesca Faridany will join the cast of Alfred Hitchcock's THE 39 STEPS on Tuesday, October 28. Kuhn will play the role of Man #1 and Faridany will play the roles of Annabella Schmidt, Margaret and Pamela. Current cast members Jennifer Ferrin and Cliff Saunders will play their final performances on Sunday, October 26. THE 39 STEPS, the winner of two Tony Awards, two Drama Desk Awards and the 2007 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, is playing at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues).

A Brush With Georgia O'Keeffe, the acclaimed new play written by and starring Natalie Mosco as Georgia O'Keeffe, will play its final two performances this weekend with Saturday and Sunday matinees, September 27/28 at 2:00 PM at St. Luke's Theatre. The play, which opened on June 21, will have played 44 performances. Ms. Mosco is presently looking for a new home for the play. In the meantime, on November 1, Natalie Mosco and cast will present a special performance of A Brush With Georgia O'Keeffe at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC in conjunction with the exhibit 'Georgia O'Keeffe and Ansel Adams: Natural Affinities,' which will feature 42 of O'Keeffe's paintings. The exhibition, the first to pair these artists, runs from September 26, 2008 through January 4, 2009. Directed by Broadway veteran Robert Kalfin with Scenic Design by Kevin Judge, Costume Design by Gail Cooper Hecht, Lighting Design by Paul Hudson, Projections Design by Marilys Ernst and Original Composition and Sound Design by Margaret Pine also features Virginia Roncetti and David Lloyd Walters in multiple roles. Mosco's play follows the remarkable life of the celebrated American painter Georgia O'Keeffe. O'Keeffe, who was once torn between a career as an artist or musician, seemed to strike a balance between the two by infusing her painting with what she termed 'visual music'. As Alfred Stieglitz's model, muse and lover, she became the widely known subject for a long series of photographs that were part of his artistic legacy. But it was only after Stieglitz's death that O'Keeffe was finally free immerse herself in nature once again, the source that had truly defined her paintings and offered her 98 year old life its greatest meaning. Natalie Mosco has been a performer, writer, choreographer, director and teacher on three continents. She played leading roles on Broadway (The Magic Show), in London (Grand Hotel) and was a member of the original Broadway production of HAIR. She recently appeared in the Paper Mill Playhouse's acclaimed revival of Follies. As a performer living in Australia, she became a well-known personality on television as well as on stage and is a founding member of Shakespeare Globe (Sydney) where she played Cleopatra in Antony & Cleopatra. Her own artwork has been exhibited at MOMA and the Metropolitan Museum of Art and has just completed her Doctorate for the University of Western Sydney. A Brush with Georgia O'Keeffe at St. Luke's Theatre (308 W 46th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues) plays its final two performances this Saturday and Sunday, September 27/28, matinees only at 2:00 PM.
