Following the best-selling musical James Joyce's The Dead and the critically-acclaimed drama A Walk in the Woods, Quotidian Theatre Companycloses their 15th anniversary season with the D.C. area premiere of The Birds - celebrated playwright Conor McPherson's unique, morally-challenging adaptation of the Daphne du Maurier short story that inspired Alfred Hitchcock's film. The OBIE Award-winning Pig Iron Theatre Company will collaborate on a new concert-spectacle with Dr. Dog - the Philadelphia-based indie-rock band whose last album (Be the Void) debuted on Billboard's top 50 - thanks to new funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The as-yet-untitled collaboration, scheduled for spring/summer 2014, will filter Dr. Dog's songs (including some from a new album due out in October) through Pig Iron's unique visual style and concept-driven staging.

A production which will use physical comedy, storytelling, and music in a one-of-a-kind theatrical event, the creative process for It's My Party: The Women and Comedy Project began in 2010 with two questions: how do women use comedy and how does that usage change as they age. With these pointed inquiries as her guides, Ms. Childs embarked on three inclusive and ongoing initiatives which, together, would form the core of the Project.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced Finn Wittrock as The Actor, Sarah Wayne Callies as The Actress, and Shuler Hensley as The Critic in the Kennedy Center production of The Guardsman in the Eisenhower Theater May 25 to June 23, 2013. Based on the 1910 comedy by Hungarian playwright Ferenc Molnar, The Guardsman features a new literal translation by Richard Nelson and is directed by Gregory Mosher. The press opening will take place on Thursday, May 30 at 7:30 p.m.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced the full slate of 34 musical productions and special events for its ninth annual festival. This year's Festival will begin July 9th and continue through July 29th.
