WP Theater, under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Lisa McNulty and Managing Director Michael Sag, is thrilled to announce the inaugural WP Theater's 40th Anniversary Reading Series. In the first outing of this annual series, past meets present as WP shares staged readings of five extraordinary plays from throughout its history, directed by recent alums and current members of the WP Theater Directors Lab. The 5-night free series will launch on Monday, March 25 and run through Friday, May 3, 2019 at WP Theater, 2162 Broadway at 76th Street. 

Performance Space New York in collaboration with Arika and the Whitney Museum of American Art presents I wanna be with you everywhere, a gathering of, by, and for disabled artists and writers and anyone who wants to join in a series of programs that refuse policies of individuation and inclusion in favor of (and in the flavor of) whatever disability aesthetics has in bodymind. Organized by Arika, Amalle Dublon, Jerron Herman, Carolyn Lazard, Park McArthur, Alice Sheppard, and Constantina Zavitsanos, the festival features performances and readings by Eli Clare, John Lee Clark, Kayla Hamilton, Johanna Hedva, Jerron Herman, Cyr e Jarelle Johnson, Camisha L. Jones, Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, Jordan Lord, NEVE, Akemi Nishida and Alice Sheppard.

The Onassis Foundation USA has appointed Vallejo Gantner as its new Artistic and Executive Director. Gantner led the internationally influential New York City cultural institution Performance Space 122 (now Performance Space New York) from 2005 to 2017 and was responsible for all programming and strategic direction, including the creation of the annual, interdisciplinary COIL Festival; the production of worldwide tours for multiple shows under the PS122 Global moniker; and the conception, fundraising, and management for the recent $35 million renovation of the organization's longtime East Village home.

The Holmdel Theatre Company (HTC) is excited to continue its tradition of bringing unexpected, classic pieces to their theatre with their upcoming production of Life Is a Dream. Originally penned by Pedro Calderon de la Barca in 1635, Life Is a Dream is a Spanish-language play commonly hailed as the prime example of theatre and drama during the Spanish Baroque period. NEWPORT HARBOR DRAMA DEPARTMENT presents three very special benefit performances for the Robert S. Wentz Theatre at Newport Harbor High School of ED ASNER starring as God in GOD HELP US!, written by Samuel Warren Joseph & Phil Proctor and directed by Mitch Levine and also starring Stewart J. Zully and Pamela Guest. GOD HELP US! will perform for three performances only, Friday, February 22 at 7pm and Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2pm & 7pm at the Robert S. Cleveland Play House (CPH) brings to life Lynn Nottage's complex story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Rust Belt drama Sweat.  Set in Reading, PA, this relevant story offers audience members suspense through its intricate portrayal of characters battling to survive in a city crippled by economic stagnation. CPH Artistic Director Laura Kepley will direct. Previews begin on October 13th, with press opening on October 19th at the Outcalt Theatre in Playhouse Square. This production is sponsored by Great Lakes Brewing Company.

Mission to (dit)Mars is excited to announce the selection of four new members to the 2018-2020 Propulsion Lab, a Queens based writers group serving emerging playwrights from the borough.  In addition to the new lab members, one returning member has been named a Writer in Residence and three have been named Orbiting Artists.

SITI Company, the internationally acclaimed ensemble theater co-founded by American director Anne Bogart, presents Bogart's stunning direction of Euripides' tragedy The Bacchae.  Presented as part of BAM's Next Wave festival, the production will celebrate its New York premiere on Wednesday through Saturday, October 3 through 6, 2018, 7:30 PM and Sunday, October 7 at 3:00 PM for 5 performances at the BAM Harvey Theater.  Tickets are $30, 45, 65 (weekday); $35, 50, 75 (weekend). The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) and the Onassis Foundation USA announced today six free performances of THE GOSPEL AT COLONUS, the groundbreaking re-telling of Sophocles' classic, for a limited engagement, September 4-9 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. With book, original lyrics, and direction by Lee Breuer and original music, adapted lyrics, and music direction by Bob Telson, the iconic musical returns to New York City for the first time since 2004 to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the original production at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and to honor visionary director Lee Breuer for his lifetime of excellence and historic collaboration with The Public Theater.

THE GOSPEL AT COLONUS will return to New York this fall, lighting up the Delacorte Theater in September.

Fourth Annual Coltrane Day Music Celebration Returns to Huntington's Heckscher Park 7/21

Free For All, one of the capital's cherished annual traditions, will return this summer to Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), offering two weeks of free performances of the Company's 2016 production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul, whose hit production of Camelot has extended through July 8 due to popular demand, the production will run at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St NW) from August 21-September 2, providing more than 12,000 people the chance to see the play free of charge.

'A Blanket of Dust' is the story of a modern day Antigone.  The daughter of a U.S. Senator seeks justice for her husband, who has died in the World Trade Center. Her ordeal drives her to the outer fringes of society.  After struggling to establish facts that the government, the media, her family and her countrymen deny, she protests with a harrowing act of sacrificial tragedy.  The play's world premiere will be presented Off-Broadway by Delphi Film from June 6 to 30 at The Flea Theater Mainstage,  20 Thomas Street, directed by Chris Murrah.

The Seeing Theater's eighth Season has focused on bringing together stories that challenge the ways in which we relate to our fellow man. The season concludes with a triple-header: THE PEOPLE VS ANTIGONE, a world premiere adaptation by Brandon Walker, running in rep with two searing one-person shows: I AM MY OWN WIFE, the Tony Award winning play by Doug Wright and MY NAME IS RACHEL CORRIE by Katharine Viner and Alan Rickman from the writings of Rachel Corrie.

Company of Fools' 22nd season of theatre programming will conclude with the charming production of Inside, Outside, Upside Down! - a mini-musical commissioned by Company of Fools (COF) and the Sun Valley Center for the Arts as part of its new BIG IDEA project, Bees. Two free public performances are scheduled for Saturday, April 21 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 22 at 2 p.m. Both will be held at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey and will be followed by a unique interactive workshop.
