The co-producers behind The Kilbanes' Weightless, a hit rock opera-retelling of Ovid's Metamorphoses, as well as New York's Obie Award-winning The Tricky Part and Lucille Lortel Award-winning All the Rage, return to San Francisco with a new production of A Lesson From Aloes, to be presented at Z Below. Written by internationally-acclaimed playwright Athol Fugard and directed by Obie Award winner Timothy Near, this inventive revival will feature a star-studded cast of regional theatre's finest actors. A Lesson From Aloes will be presented June 3 - 29, 2018 (press opening: Thursday, June 7, 2018) with performances 7:30pm Wednesdays through Saturdays and 2pm Sundays at Z Below, 470 Florida Street, San Francisco. Emmanuel Villaume conducts the Met's new production of Puccini's Tosca, on December 31, 2017, and January 3, 6, 9, 12, 23, and 27, 2018, replacing James Levine.

North Carolina Theatre, the region's premiere nonprofit professional theatre, is proud to announce casting for the first production in its 2017-18 season, Gypsy, playing November 14 through 19 at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.

The Barrow Group Theatre Company, recipient of the Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Awards, has announced its lineup for the 2017-2018 season with the New York premiere of Muswell Hill, a play by Torben Betts, followed by the world premiere of The Thing With Feathers, a new play by Scott Organ, the revival of A Walk in the Woods by Lee Blessing, and a special benefit performance of the award-winning solo play The Tricky Part by Martin Moran at The Barrow Group Mainstage Theatre (312 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor).

Stage veteran Orville Mendoza, currently starring in Classic Stage's revival of PACIFIC OVERTURES, opens up on a number of provocative and essential topics.

After premiering Off-Broadway 13 years ago, The Tricky Part, heads to the City of Brotherly Love for a  two-night limited engagement May 22-23. The true story of a young Martin Moran, The Tricky Part has been called "a translucent memoir of a play … shattering and affecting" by Ben Brantley of The New York Times. This production of The Tricky Part is part of Drexel University's Entertainment & Arts Management Program's Producing Live Entertainment class, led by Drexel professor and Broadway producer Brannon Wiles.

Kitchen Theatre Company continues its 2016-17 season and gets spring started with a provocative and moving one-person play, Throw Pitchfork, written and performed byAlexander Thomas. Throw Pitchfork begins previews on April 23, opens on April 27, and closes on May 7, 2017.

Despite some fine singing from soprano Patricia Racette (who also went the Full Monty in the title role), the Met's revival of Richard Strauss's SALOME was a little tame--something that it should never be.

The subtext being: either compromise or get out if you value your life, the latter, to be sure, the wiser. This is Berlin, circa 1929/30, before Hitler, just as Nazi pressure hits the fan. Now a national tour based on Roundabout Theatre's 2014 revival docks at Segestrom for a mere 2 weeks with a glorious cast headed by Randy Harrison in a big, broad and devilishly fun performance as the Emcee.
