BWW Reviews: TROILUS AND CRESSIDA

Whenever I read a critique of live theater, an often used trope is, 'Well, it wasn't Shakespeare.' Recently, however, it was. I had the delightful privlidge of attending The New American Shakespeare Tavern's performance of Troilus and Cressida. While I love Shakespeare, I am not an aficionado by any measure so to fill in the gaps I may have missed, I brought my husband along who is both a writer and an avid Shakespeare enthusiast (never ask him about this at dinner parties - you have been warned). CST Announces Casting for THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today casting for William Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor, directed by CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines. Embraced by audiences as one of Shakespeare's most popular comedies, The Merry Wives of Windsor is an energetic romp with the loveable rouge Sir John Falstaff, performed by Scott Jaeck, as he charms and conspires against the townspeople of Windsor, only to be outsmarted by Mistress Page and Mistress Ford, performed by Kelli Fox and Heidi Kettenring. Chicago Shakespeare's production will transport audiences to post-war England in the late 1940s with a soundtrack of spirited dance music. The Merry Wives of Windsor will run in CST's Courtyard Theater December 3, 2013 through January 19, 2014. (more...)

Full casting has been announced for Talawa Theatre Company's restaging of the National Theatre production of Errol John's MOON ON A RAINBOW SHAWL. This new play will be adapted for the stage by Lee Hall from the screenplay by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard. Declan Donnellan will direct and the production will be designed by Nick Ormerod.
