New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola has announced that Fetch Clay, Make Man, written by Will Power and directed by Des McAnuff, will begin performances Friday, August 23 at NYTW, 79 East 4 Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue. Opening night is set for Thursday, September 12 at 7pm. Fetch Clay, Make Man is scheduled to run through Sunday, October 13; tickets are on sale now.

KC Rep Awarded Mellon Grant for Playwright Residency

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded a $174,000 three-year playwright residency grant to Kansas City Repertory Theatre for Nathan Louis Jackson to join the Rep's artistic staff. The award is one of 14 Mellon residency grants made in December 2012. Jackson, an award-winning playwright and a native of Kansas City, Kansas, will begin his residency in July 2013.

The Musical tonight, June 1st, replacing Deidre Goodwin in the role of Ardelia Mapp. Winner of the 2012 Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Musical, SILENCE! is the unauthorized parody of The Silence of the Lambs, with book by Hunter Bell, music & lyrics by Jon and Al Kaplan, and direction & choreography by Christopher Gattelli, and is currently playing to sold out crowds at The 9th Space Theatre at Performance Space 122, 150 First Avenue (at 9th St.) As previously announced, Tony Award winner Shuler Hensley will take over as Dr. Hannibal Lecter June 1 - 24.

Paper Mill Playhouse just announced full casting for the Millburn, New Jersey, theater's production of Once On This Island (book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, music by Stephen Flaherty). More than 20 years after its premiere, Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens are re-inventing their first musical with Tony-nominated director Thomas Kail (In the Heights, Lombardi, Magic/Bird), choreographer Bradley Rapier (So You Think You Can Dance, Jesus Christ Superstar) and new orchestrations by music director Lynne Shankel (Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Altar Boyz). Kansas City Repertory Theatre has announced the cast for Little Shop of Horrors, its final production of the 2011-12 season. The Rep's Associate Artistic Director Kyle Hatley will direct. He has also directed the Rep's productions of Circle Mirror Transformation, A Christmas Carol, The Borderland, Nathan Louis Jackson's Broke-ology, and he has appeared in The Whipping Man and The Glass Menagerie at the Rep.
