Tennessee Rep Announces 26th Season Productions

Christopher Sergel's stage adaptation of Harper Lee's classic Southern novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, will open Tennessee Repertory Theatre's 26th Season with an October 2-23 run at the Andrew Johnson Theatre at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. Other shows featured during the 2010-2011 season includes Steven Dietz's Yankee Tavern, the acclaimed stage adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps, and the toe-tapping musical favorite Pump Boys and Dinettes. Last season's holiday hit, A Christmas Story, will be revived as a season special and Tennessee Rep has three shows on tap for its popular REPaloud Series of staged readings.

Longtime collaborators James Lapine and John Weidman announced the renaming of Henry Miller's Theatre to the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. The renaming of the theatre is dedicated to Stephen Sondheim, the greatest and best known artist in American musical theatre on his 80th birthday. The announcement was made at the curtain call following Roundabout Theatre Company's gala performance of the new Broadway musical Sondheim on Sondheim.

In announcing the Denver Center Theatre Company's 2010/11 Season, Artistic Director Kent Thompson expands the company's reputation with American playwrights and theatre professionals as a center for new work by selecting three new plays read at the 2010 Colorado New Play Summit for full production - two of them Denver Center world premieres. In addition he has selected a remarkably current list of critically-acclaimed works, including the 2009 Pulitzer Prize winner, to complement a horror classic, an exciting French Canadian import and a favorite Shakespeare comedy.

This year's Critics Circle Awards, sponsored by Actor's Equity Association, today announced is nominees for excellence in San Francisco Bay area theater. Berkeley Rep's production of American Idiot, which played in the fall of 2009, leads with 12 nominations and will open on Broadway this spring.

"TalkOut Mondays" (the after performance discussions) continues March 8th with Derek & Romaine (Sirius "Out Q109" radio hosts) & the cast of the critically acclaimed hit show "The Temperamentals" by Jon Marans at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street). Daryl Roth, Stacy Shane and Martian Entertainment are presenting the new American play. Thomas Jay Ryan (recently on Broadway "In The Next Room") portrays Harry Hay. Michael Urie (from TV's "Ugly Betty") is Rudi Gernreich. Arnie Burton (an original cast member of Broadway's "39 Steps") joins the cast in multiple roles. Rounding out the cast of five multiple talented actors are Matthew Schneck, and Sam Breslin Wright. The critically acclaimed hit show is directed by Jonathan Silverstein. TheatreWorks, the nationally-acclaimed theatre of Silicon Valley, has announced the line-up for its 2010-2011 season. Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley and Managing Director Phil Santora announced a 41st season that will include three world premieres (bringing the company's total to 56); three regional premieres including the newest play by the author of AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, Broadway's quirky hit musical about writers writing a quirky hit musical and a spell-binding mystery about a Japanese-American veteran charged with murder; and two Broadway favorites. The company will once again lead off with an extensive New Works Festival.
