The question is how to present provocative conversation while maintaining respect for the 911 legacy. With the utmost respect for this tragic event, the American Repertory Theater of WNY, Inc is proud to be presenting the powerful and compelling The Guys, written by Anne Nelson, to start the 2012-13 season. Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced that two-time Tony Award-winning actor Nathan Lane will head the cast of its upcoming production of THE NANCE, a new play by Douglas Carter Beane to be directed by Jack O'Brien. Arena Stage to Present PULLMAN PORTER BLUES, Starring E. Faye Butler, This November

Following its celebrated opening at Seattle Repertory Theatre, Pullman Porter Blues travels across the country to sweep D.C. audiences along for a ride in its world-premiere co-production at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. Inspired by her grandfather's work on the postal trains, playwright Cheryl L. West, whose work at Arena Stage includes Jar the Floor and Play On!, returns with the tale of three Pullman train porters whose journey is underscored by Midwest blues songs, including "Sweet Home Chicago" and "This Train." Directed by Lisa Peterson (Arena's The Rainmaker and The Quality of Life), Pullman Porter Blues runs November 23, 2012 - January 6, 2013 in the Kreeger Theater. (more...)

Arizona Theatre Company Opens LOMBARDI, 10/20

Few people know the real story of football's most legendary coach, Vince Lombardi. Through his inspirations and passions, he had an ability to drive people to achieve more than they ever thought possible. Arizona Theatre Company's "Lombardi" centers on the iconic Green Bay Packers coach during a pivotal week in 1965. This Southwest premiere production of the Broadway hit plays at the Temple of Music and Art and runs from October 20 - November 10, 2012. It continues its run in Phoenix at the Herberger Theater Center from November 15 - December 2, 2012. "Lombardi" is supported by Opening Night Sponsor, Kate Garner. Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF (OST) continues its 2012-2013 season with a hilarious holiday spoof for the entire family, The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society's Production of "A Christmas Carol".Acclaimed director Matt Pfeiffer directs this comedy about a fictional amateur drama group that stumbles in its attempts to bring to life on stage Scrooge, Tiny Tim, and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Future, and Present. Mad Cow Theatre just announced that they will be extending Neil Simon's Laughter on the 23rd Floor to February 24 rather than February 17 as originally scheduled. The production runs at Mad Cow Theatre (54 West Church Street in Downtown Orlando), with preview performances on January 23 and 24. Performances are Thursdays-Saturdays as 7:30pm and Sundays at 3pm. Complete with a brave prince, a beautiful princess, and a magical kiss, this quirky retelling of Sleeping Beauty will introduce the classic fairy tale to a new generation of kids and families.
