The Actors Fund will present a one night only benefit reading of the American classic Our Town on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 7:30 p .m. at The Gerald R. Lynch Theatre at John Jay College (524 West 59th Street). Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the play's Broadway opening, the proceeds from this event will benefit the programs and services of The Actors Fund.

Since December 28th was my birthday I looked around for something interesting to write about. And I did. But it happened on December 27, the same day Show Boat opened. But Show Boat opened in 1927 and this one in 1944. It was a musical titled Sing Out Sweet Land. What? The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that the cast of the acclaimed epic musical GIANT will enter the recording studio in January to create an original cast album, which will be released by Ghostlight Records in spring 2013. GIANT officially opened at The Public on November 15 and features a book by Sybille Pearson, music and lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa, and direction by Michael Greif. The show will end its limited run at The Public Theater at Astor Place on Sunday, December 16 following a final two-week extension.

The Palace Theatre opened its doors 85 years ago this June 2nd under the direction of Stamford resident Mary Vuono who owned and operated the theater as a vaudeville and motion-picture house in 1927.
