THE WIZ LIVE director Kenny Leon texted his running critique to GREASE: LIVE helmer Thomas Kail!
More Fraggles than Wiggles, more Soul Train than Thomas the Train, 23 Skidoo is equal parts Dr. Suess and Dr. Dre!
Hey, all you YOUNGER fans! Guess what?! Sutton Foster, Miriam Shor, Hilary Duff and the whole Empirical/Bed-Stuy gang is back! Last we saw them her, Liza she had her cover blown with Josh, but, because she had that irresistible charm, Josh pledged to continue dating her, anyway. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how that'll all play out this season, especially in terms of how well he'll keep her secret. Because….
Channing Tatum channeled his inner Queen Elsa of Arendelle for his performance of FROZEN's 'Let It Go' on last night's episode of SPIKE TV's LIP SYNC BATTLE
FROZEN star and Broadway alum Josh Gad gave props to STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS on Instagram today after the film surpassed FROZEN's all-time box office record with $1.29 billion globally over the Disney animated musical's impressive $1.28 billion in 2013. Scroll down for Gad's post!
Little did Frank Baum realize in 1900 when he wrote the book, THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ, that he was creating a cottage industry. 'Chachkas' such as snow globes, stuffed Toto dogs and figurines of the characters dot many a household. Clothing, including red crystal shoes, checkered gingham 'Dorothy' dresses and Halloween costumes galore, relate aspects of the tale.

I forgot how funny THE GOOD WIFE is. How quick, and how cheeky. This is a fun show. The hour goes really fast when you're enjoying all the side-eye/eye-rolls/grimaces that these characters dish out to each other, whether they're mother and daughter, nearly-friends, or scheming political partners.
We're back! After an extended absence due to The Last Five Years (we directed it to boffo notices from our critical colleagues), The 2015 First Night Honors (which played to SRO crowds at Chaffin's Barn in September) and a sense of overwhelming malaise and ennui (we are ever so dramatic at times), BWW Nashville's Critic's Choice is back on the interwebs, offering you our insights and advice on the shows that are coming up and what you should try to find time to see - or to avoid at all costs, depending on our perspective.
There may be no better way to chase the gloom of an unseasonably chilly and wind-whipped evening in NYC than to watch New York City Ballet's delightfully varied quintuple-bill entitled "Americana X Five". On October 2nd 2015, with Hurricane Joaquin's approach bringing on a gusty downpour, I was among the lucky dancegoers at the Koch Theater in Lincoln Center who enjoyed one of the best programs the company has offered in a long time. If you'll be in town through October 7th, don't miss the chance to see the works of four very different choreographers set to the equally wide-ranging works of a talented handful of American composers.
Today, The New York Post's Michael Riedel caught up with Finding Neverland producer Harvey Weinstein and shares that Grammer will indeed return to the show in 2016.
Jean Paul Sartre's 1944 NO EXIT receives a sturdy mounting by the InterAct Theatre Company. Kent Minault directs his gifted cast spouting out Sartre's lines ever so trippingly and sensibly on their respective tongues. Any faster readings would have been unintelligible. Bravo to the cast for their commitment, intensity and believability in this possibly realistic situation. Who really knows what it's like to be in Hell?
Today, I am kicking off the series with “Five Things About the JERSEY BOYS Movie,” a film that I failed to see in the theater because all of the horrendous reviews Clint Eastwood's direction received. Released in June 2014, the movie tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Based on the Tony and Grammy winning musical of the same name, the film adaptation went through a number of iterations during development. Initially Tony-winning playwright, and TV and movie scribe John Logan was to pen the screenplay and Jon Favreau (of ELF, IRON MAN, and SWINGERS fame) was slated to direct.
We were all naked. All 100 or so of us models for the 2nd annual NYC Bodypainting Day-created by artist, Andy Golub. Andy says the event represents 'artistic expression, body acceptance, and the human connection being made by art.' I add body celebration and the human connection department took me to a level I could not have predicted.

Since he is disabled by a crippling disease, Army veteran Darryl Dean Wright spends most of his waking hours at the computer in his home in Elizabethton, Tennessee. 'The first manuscript Darryl sent me contained over 300,000 words,' said Karen Stone of Waldenhouse Publishers, Inc. 'I had to break it up into 3 parts even to begin to get a handle on it.'
Today we are talking to a spectacularly talented and accomplished performer who has excelled in many mediums as an actor onstage and onscreen as well as a high-profile proponent and figurehead for those with disabilities, the charming and thoughtful Mat Fraser. Opening up about curating this week's upcoming event highlighting many performers with disabilities titled CRIPFEST, Fraser touches upon the importance of the 25th anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act and what attendees can expect from the wide range of entertainment on hand at the event. Furthermore, Fraser reflects on his unforgettable role on this season's acclaimed AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW - which received 19 Emmy nominations just last week, the most of any non-premium series - and working with the likes of Jessica Lange, Finn Wittrock and more. All of that, details on his upcoming projects and much, much more!
At last night's performance, the actor tested out an updated version of a previous joke involving former Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner, now known as Caitlyn Jenner.

The Lusty Month of May; like the song says: 'It's time to do a wicked thing or two!' It's May, the time when spring brings that hot-blooded, four letter word: lust. Musicals have had a steady history of lusty musical numbers. There are songs about rolling in the hay, and others extolling the virtues of different (ahem) flavors of man-candy. Some songs are paens to hot, steamy nights, and some are about what you do on those kind of nights.

A lot went down on tonight's episode of OUTLANDER. And I mean a lot. So much, in fact, that it felt like the type of episode that would pave the way for one heck of a season finale. But guess what, folks? We still have six episodes to go! So if this is Ronald D. Moore's idea of a typical filler episode, well then my goodness, color me impressed.
