Today, a preview clip from the upcoming season of Theater Talk has been released in which panelists Michael Riedel, Susan Haskins, Jesse Green, Michael Musto and Patrick Pacheco discuss the viability of the upcoming Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, now expected to open on Broadway in the fall of 2010 after financial troubles delayed a winter opening. Theater Talk, a weekly expose of world theater that airs on PBS Friday nights (PBS/Thirteen) and 5 times weekly on CUNY TV. Theater Talk makes its 2010 premiere tomorrow at 1 AM on Thirteen. BroadwayWorld/Costa Mesa's Michael Lawrence Quintos looks back at the highs of this past year. Orange County (or "The O.C." as it's more popularly nicknamed) saw a plethora of amazing theater this past year, thanks to a hits-driven national tour line-up at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, as well as some great productions at some local/regional companies such as South Coast Repertory and The Laguna Playhouse. Jerry Zaks Takes Over THE ADDAMS Family; Significant Changes Expected

The New York Times is reporting that Tony-winner Jerry Zaks has officially been brought in to take over and to supervise THE ADDAMS FAMILY. Zaks will be billed as the show's "Creative Consultant" with Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch still listed as directors and production designers, but it's been made clear that Jerry Zaks is the new man in charge.
He tells the Times that he is looking forward to "taking this original musical to the next level." As a result of taking this job, Zaks will no longer direct All About Me, which stars Dame Edna and Michael Feinstein.

Broadway favorite Christopher Sieber (Shrek, Spamalot) spent Saturday, December 12 mentoring the young talent of Broadway's future as they led the morning portion of a Shrek master class with Broadway Artists Alliance. Sieber (Lord Farquaad) answered questions and candidly spoke about his experiences with Shrek as well as other stage and screen credits to a group of eager and talented young performers ages 10 to 21. The group's morning Q & A was followed with a Song Interpretation class led by Sieber. The master class concluded with a Musical Theatre Audition Technique session by a representative from Tara Rubin casting. (more...)

BWW TV: Learn All About the Broadway Green Alliance

A Broadway Green Alliance E-Waste event, hosted byKerry Butler and Valerie Smaldone, will be held on Wednesday, December 16, in Duffy Square at noon. The Broadway Green Alliance, with the support of WeRecycle!, encourages the New York City theatre community to come deposit their Electronic Waste (broken cell phones, computers, printers, and dry batteries) in the center of Times Square for safe disposal and recycling.
