Dead Can Dance Launches Worldwide Tour, Releases Album Today, 8/9

Critically acclaimed duo Dead Can Dance are set to release their first studio album of new material today, August 9 marking their first new recordings since 1996's Spiritchaser. In support of the album, this summer principle members Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry will embark on a worldwide tour bringing them to four continents during an eight month period. Kicking off today, August 9 at The Orpheum in Vancouver, these dates are the bands first live shows since their sold out 2005 tour. Fans can expect live performances highlighting arrangements from decade's worth of musical archives plus songs from their upcoming release. Please see dates below. (more...)

It may be the final week of Lincoln Center Out of Doors, but the festival isn't winding down when it comes to exciting performances. This week, Lincoln Center celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the landmark Soul at the Center, highlighted by Valerie Simpson's first tribute to her late partner, Nick Ashford, since his passing. The pair that wrote such Motown hits as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)," and "I'm Every Woman," made their performing debut as a duo at Lincoln Center 40 years ago. Stella Adler Studio of Acting Outreach Division Presents CORIOLANUS, Aug 10

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting's Summer Shakespeare program will perform Shakespeare's Coriolanus on August 10th. The cast are members of The Studio's free Outreach program for disadvantaged New York City youth. Students from all five of New York's boroughs auditioned and 22 kids were invited to participate in the legendary acting school's program. The Studio looks for kids who live at or under the poverty line who don't have arts access at school and who display an appetite or passion to learn something new. The students are mentored by theater professionals such as Broadway fight director J. Steven White. (more...)

Talking all about her new solo album, LOVE TRAVELS, and its various inspirations as well as casting a look back at her many Broadway, touring and regional roles thus far in her eclectic career - ALL SHOOK UP, SWEENEY TODD and many more included - Reiber and I attempt to illustrate her unique place on Broadway and what she would like to pursue in the future, both on the stage and in the recording studio.
