Touring theatre company Sell a Door Theatre have scooped the prestigious Scotsman Fringe First award for their co-production with Boxed Cat Theatre of Rainbow by Emily Jenkins.

The company was established in 2008 and started out at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a production of 'The Secrets Inside' a new play by Artistic Director David Hutchinson exploring the overcrowded prison system. Since 2008 Sell a Door have produced thirteen productions including nine world premieres and have scooped MTM and NSDF awards. The Fringe First is presented to outstanding new writing produced on the fringe.

Writer and director Emily Jenkins says "I am absolutely thrilled that 'Rainbow' is receiving this award; the Edinburgh fringe is such a vibrant and exciting place for a writer to be and I have been incredibly inspired by the people I have met here. This production has been an utterly collaborative effort and I am so very grateful to the wonderful cast and creative team who have made this play possible. Thank you to everyone involved."

The production is set for a London run later this year, and a short tour in 2013 following its critical acclaim and Fringe First accolade.
