Dogfight, playing now through May 17 at Green Valley Theatre Company, definitely fits into the 'Something Else' category of the company's slogan: Classics. Comedy. And Something Else.

As for The Addams Family musical, the 6th Street Playhouse does the show justice. The production values are high - a live band, well-done lighting and sets, and great costumes - and the acting is very good.

The famed Wright brothers, inventors and aviation pioneers, come to the stage in a beautifully realized adaptation of The Flying Machine at B Street Theatre. The play is part of B Street's family series, and was well-received by both children and adults in the audience.

The show itself is hilarious - extremely campy and entirely self-aware, with songs including "All of the Men in my Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons" and "Do the Necronomicon." Groan-worthy (but hilarious) puns pepper the script, and funny lyrics and musical devices keep the action rolling.

I was inspired to take a closer look at the artists and books referenced in the play's dialogue. This fact alone tells me Red is good theater. Any show that makes me want to take action after seeing it is well worth the price of admission.

Given my initial feelings toward the show, I'm quite surprised to be telling you that Shrek is adorable, and well worth the time to see. The lyrics are clever, and the songs added to the show give the characters more depth. Shrek could be a good introduction to theater for young audiences. Kids who have seen the movie are already familiar with the story and characters, and the stage version is quite fun.

Put four witty women on a golf course and watch them go. The straightforward plot of Norm Foster's The Ladies Foursome follows a quartet of ladies-three old friends, and one the others had never met before-as they play 18 holes and talk about their lives.

The production is a good effort on Runaway's part, but Bonnie and Clyde's writing is not the best material to work with. The show leaves me questioning why we are retelling this story, especially in such a bland manner. If we are going to revive our folk heroes on stage, they deserve something with a little more spark than Wildhorn's formulaic treatment.

The Light in the Piazza is a beautiful evening of theater, with a great story, lovely singing, and excellent acting. Get your tickets while you can-they're selling fast-and this show is one you'll want to see.
