The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra has cancelled its November 10, 2015 performance at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Though the magic of the woods is not as spectacular on a TV as it was on the big screen, the vast majority of INTO THE WOODS' enchantment admirably makes the transition to the small screen. Last Christmas, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved Broadway fairy tale took the big screen by storm with a star-studded movie adaptation, and last week Disney released DVD and Blu-Ray versions full of bonus features. Despite all of the extras on the disks, INTO THE WOODS' main draw is still its incredible stars. With a cast of Hollywood A-listers and Broadway alums, all of whom prove more than capable of handling Stephen Sondheim's uniquely intricate and intellectual music and lyrics, this very well might be the most effectively adapted movie musical of the past half century. The lush orchestrations, the gorgeous settings, and the spectacular cast are just as bewitching as they were in the movie theatre.

Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies will play at the Orpheum Theatre for two performances only tonight, March 28th, 2015 at 7:30 PM and tomorrow, March 29th, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Presented by Kroger and produced through a historic partnership between The Orpheum Theatre and The Memphis Symphony Orchestra, proceeds from this special engagement will benefit The Memphis Symphony Orchestra. Garth Fagan, Tony Award winner for 'Best Choreography' in The Lion King, founder and artistic director of Garth Fagan Dance, is receiving the Apple Award from Wayne State University's Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance. 'A Conversation with Apple Award Recipient Garth Fagan' will be hosted at the Berman Center for the Performing Arts tonight, March 28 at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Fagan will appear in an 'actors studio' style interview and question-and-answer session.

This just in! According to the Hollywood Reporter, Audra McDonald is in final talks to join the cast of Disney's upcoming remake of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. The six-time Tony winner will take on the role of 'Garderobe,' the wardrobe.

Industry leaders who made significant contributions to the arts and culture of Hollywood were named recipients of the Hollywood Arts Council 29th Annual Charlie Awards. The awards ceremony, a fundraiser that supports arts programs for underserved children in the Hollywood area, will be held Friday, May 1 at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
