Huntington Mourns the Passing of Former Artistic Director Nicholas Martin

Huntington Theatre Company leadership, staff, Board of Trustees, and Council of Overseers were saddened to learn that former Artistic Director Nicholas Martin died last night, April 30, at age 75 in New York after battling a long illness.

The Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Producing Artistic Director Andre Bishop) production of Act One, a play written and directed by James Lapine from the autobiography by Moss Hart, just opened last night, April 17, at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre. The annual event will feature a one-night-only performance by Broadway veteran and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti (Gypsy, Into the Woods, NBC's The Sound of Music Live!, 'The Good Wife,' 'Go On'), based on her smash hit New York cabaret (and new CD) In Constant Search of the Right Kind of Attention. Nina Doede, Deni Jacobs, and Sheryl White serve as Co-Chairs of the 2014 Globe Gala.

Off-Broadway's DISASTER! Plays Final Performance Tonight

DISASTER!, the 1970s disaster movie musical comedy, will play its final performance Off-Broadway tonight, April 11th, after a smash six-month run at the St. Luke's Theatre (308 W. 46th Street). Disaster! began previews on October 14th, 2013 and opened to critical acclaim on November 4th, 2013. The musical, which performs in repertory with other productions at the St. Luke's Theatre, will have played 11 previews and 86 performances at the time of its closing.

The Houston Symphony announced that Hollywood veteran Victor Garber will host the Centennial season-ending Pops weekend, Symphonic Spectacular! See the Music, on May 23, 24 and 25. The recognizable Garber has appeared in multiple popular television programs and movies including the current "Sleepy Hollow" and "The Good Wife" along with the award-winning spy drama from the early 2000s "Alias" with actress Jennifer Garner. His film credits include Argo, Legally Blonde, Titanic and many others.

Starz announced today that its highly anticipated new original series 'Power' will debut on Saturday, June 7th at 9pm ET/PT with the release of Executive Producer Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson's new music video for 'Big Rich Town.' The single, which was created specifically for the show and will serve as the main title theme, is performed by 50 Cent and features never before seen footage from the New York based crime drama from Emmy(R) nominated writer Courtney Kemp Agboh. Starz also released the official key art for the series.

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for Alan Ayckbourn's science fiction comedy Communicating Doors. Eleven plays penned by Alan Ayckbourn have been produced by the Alley, including the American premiere of Henceforward, directed by Ayckbourn, in 1987 and House & Garden in 2002. Alan Ayckbourn has been inducted into the American Theatre's Hall of Fame, received the 2010 Critics' Circle Award for Services to the Arts, became the first British playwright to receive both Olivier and Tony Special Lifetime Achievement Awards and was knighted in 1997 for services to the theatre.
