Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) and Paramount Television announced today that actresses Julianne Hough ('Safe Haven,' 'Rock of Ages') and Vanessa Hudgens ('Gigi', 'High School Musical,' 'Spring Breakers') have been cast in leading roles in GREASE: LIVE (working title). With Hough as the angelic 'Sandy' - Rydell High's most talked-about newcomer - and Hudgens as iconic bad girl 'Rizzo,' this first-ever live television production of 'Grease' will re-imagine the hit crossover musical for an entirely new generation.

Scott Borchetta, President and CEO of the Big Machine Label Group and one of the most successful forces in the music industry today, has joined AMERICAN IDOL XIV as mentor to help shape the career of the competition's winner. Borchetta's relationship with the next AMERICAN IDOL will extend past the show's finale; Borchetta's Big Machine Records will partner with 19 Entertainment and Universal Music Group to oversee the launch of his/her recording career. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Harvey Weinstein and director Diane Paulus recently announced that Finding Neverland will open on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on April 8, 2015. This announcement comes on the heels of Finding Neverland's sold-out, world-premiere engagement at the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University. Finding Neverland will begin preview performances on Broadway in March, 2015. Casting will be announced shortly.

Calgary-based Honens International Piano Competition will begin accepting applications for its eighth edition beginning September 30, 2014. The Competition's Quarterfinals take place in Berlin, London and New York in spring, 2015. Semifinals and Finals take place in Calgary from September 3 to 12, 2015. Pianists of all nationalities, aged 20 to 30 on September 3, 2015 (with the exception of past Honens Laureates and professionally managed pianists), may apply until February 2, 2015 at honens.com.
