Director Joe Dowling today announced the three plays that will comprise the Guthrie's 2012 celebration of prolific British playwright, screenwriter and director Christopher Hampton. A Guthrie commission of Appomattox, a new play based upon Hampton's original 2007 opera collaboration with composer Philip Glass, will be joined by Tales from Hollywood and Total Eclipse.

Wililam Shatner's SHATNER'S WORLD: WE JUST LIVE IN IT opens today, February 14, and will play through March 4 at the Music Box Theater on Broadway before embarking on a national tour. A statement from the producers said: 'The two-hour show will take audiences on a voyage through Shatner's life and career, from Shakespearean stage actor to internationally known icon and raconteur.'

Mike Birbiglia's MY GIRLFRIEND'S BOYFRIEND will play at the Guthrie Theater as part of their Live at the Guthrie series. The performance will be on Monday, February 13 at 7:30 p.m. on the Wurtele Thrust Stage. This Pulitzer Prize-winning classic about a Southern family in crisis receives its second-ever Guthrie staging. The Guthrie Theater today announced the full cast and creative team for The Birds-acclaimed Irish playwright and director Conor McPherson's adaptation of the riveting Daphne du Maurier short story. Directed by Henry Wishcamper, this deliciously chilling psychological portrait of fear and alienation will have its American premiere at the Guthrie in the Dowling Studio.

Television actress Emily Swallow (Guthrie: A Midsummer Night's Dream; Television: 'Ringer,' 'Southland' and 'The Good Wife') will lead the cast of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in the iconic role of the troubled, lovelorn Margaret (Maggie the Cat). Swallow will be joined by Twin Cities actor Peter Christian Hansen (Guthrie: Dollhouse, Macbeth, After a Hundred Years) as the indifferent, alcoholic, favorite son Brick.

Michael Riedel reports in today's New York Post that William Shatner is headed to Broadway in early 2012 with a 2-3 week engagement of SHATNER'S WORD: WE JUST LIVE IN IT which will play for 2-3 weeks at the Music Box Theater on Broadway. The show will be a temporary booking at the theatre, which is currently home to PRIVATE LIVES, which just moved up its closing to December 31.

The Guthrie Theater just completed a four-week run of Obie Award-winning playwright Adam Rapp's The Edge of Our Bodies, an intimate and intriguing story of Bernadette, a young woman at the threshold of adulthood on a harrowing journey in search of experience. This marks the first time that a production of Rapp's work was performed at the Guthrie Theater. The Guthrie's production featured Minnesota native and recent New York transplant Ali Rose Dachis who wowed audiences last year with her turn as Lauren in the Guthrie's Circle Mirror Transformation. Dachis is a 2009 graduate of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Actor Training Program. Guthrie Associate Director of Studio Programming Benjamin McGovern directed this powerful and insightful story. Rapp recently stopped by the production, and you can check out a photo below!
