At a press conference yesterday the Oregon Shakespeare Festival provided a comprehensive picture of the scope of new work underway over the next several season supported by grants totaling more than $800,000. OSF recently received a grant of $600,000 from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation over three years (2010-2012) for the decade-long commissioning, production, and public dialogue initiative American Revolutions: the United States History Cycle. The Edgerton Foundation of Los Angeles, California awarded OSF a four-year $200,000 grant to support the commissioning of five new American musicals, putting OSF in the unique position of creating new American musicals with a resident acting company.

Jo Schuman Silver, producer of Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon, announced last night the three Bay Area high school winners of The Steve Silver Foundation & Beach Blanket Babylon 'Scholarship for the Arts.' The event featured a Glee-inspired opening performance of 'Don't Stop Believin' by the cast of Beach Blanket Babylon.

Today, with the announcement of its annual awards, the Outer Critics Circle recognized two shows developed at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Carrie Fisher won the award for Outstanding Solo Performance with Wishful Drinking, and Kevin Adams of American Idiot was honored for Outstanding Lighting Design. The Outer Critics Circle - the official organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications, and other media beyond Broadway - has given awards since 1950.

Today, Berkeley Repertory Theatre and the Guthrie Theatre announced that their production of TINY KUSHNER is headed for London. A series of short scripts by legendary playwright Tony Kushner, TINY KUSHNER debuted at the Guthrie in May 2009 and played to acclaim at Berkeley Rep last fall. Staged by Berkeley Rep's artistic director, Tony Taccone, the production will transfer to London's Tricycle Theatre with its original cast and design team intact. The show runs from September 1 to September 25.

3LD Art & Technology Center Ends Run of THE DIARY OF A TEENAGE GIRL, 4/12

Aaron Louis (Producing Director, 3LD Art & Technology Center) in association with New Georges and The Essentials, will present the world premiere of THE DIARY OF A TEENAGE GIRL, written by Marielle Heller, adapted from the hit graphic novel of the same name by Phoebe Gloeckner, and directed by Sarah Cameron Sunde and Rachel Eckerling in a multi-media production. Performances began on Sunday, March 15 3LD Art & Technology Center, 80 Greenwich Street (just south of Rector Street). The production will end its run Monday, April 12.)

Art Exhibition of Hit Graphic Novel 'Diary of a Teenage Girl' to Premier Alongside Theatrical Adaptation

The first New York art exhibit of Phoebe Gloeckner's original artwork from her hit graphic novel The Diary of a Teenage Girl will be presented downtown at 3LD Art & Technology Center, 80 Greenwich Street (just south of Rector Street). Producer Aaron Louis in association with New Georges and The Essentials will present the exhibit in tandem with their production of Marielle Heller's adaptation of Gloeckner's novel. The exhibit will be on display in The Tube, 3LD's gallery space. The official opening of the exhibit will be Wednesday, March 24 at 6:00 p.m. Admission to the exhibit is free.
