Breaking News: West End's Bertie Carvel to Reprise 'Miss Trunchbull' in MATILDA on Broadway

The producers of Roald Dahl's MATILDA THE MUSICAL announced today that Olivier Award-winner Bertie Carvel will reprise the role of Miss Trunchbull in the Broadway production of the Royal Shakespeare Company's eagerly anticipated musical which begins performances on March 4 and opens on April 11 at the Shubert Theatre (235 West 44th Street). Carvel received rave reviews for his iconic performance and won the 2012 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical.

Betsy Morgan is heading to Houston for the first time in the touring production of LES MISERABLES. She tells me she has "pseudo-family" in town, and she is looking forward to seeing those family and friends in addition to everything that Houston has to offer. One of her first big parts was originating Leslie in the musical GIANT, which is all about Texas, so she is excited to see some of the Historic aspects of our city. Taking time out of her busy schedule, she chatted with me about her life in the theatre, LES MISERABLES, touring, and performing as Fantine.

Samantha Barks, star of the upcoming film LES MISERABLES, is one of six young actors who will be honored with the 'Hollywood Spotlight Award' at this year's Hollywood Film Awards gala ceremony to be held October 22 at the Beverly Hilton. Barks is set to play Eponine in the film version of Les Miserables - the role she played at the 25th anniversary concert.
