Impoverished by a string of flops, New York producer Max Bialystock recruits timid accountant Leo Bloom to help him pull off Broadway's greatest scam. Together they aim to produce the worst show ever and run away to Rio with millions, but they soon learn that showbusiness can always find a way to kick you in the teeth.

The Producers, a Mel Brooks musical, has been a favourite of mine since I saw the Las Vegas production years ago starring David Hasselhoff - who was surprisingly good, I might add! The show had been condensed into an hour and a half straight through which worked well in my opinion. The musical was adapted from the 1968 film of the same name and opened on Broadway in 1991, receiving 12 Tony Awards - a massive achievement by any standard. The 2005 film version was also very enjoyable and starred original Broadway cast members Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick.

Impoverished by a string of flops, New York producer Max Bialystock recruits downtrodden accountant Leo Bloom to help him pull off Broadway's greatest scam. Together they aim to produce the worst show in history and run away to Rio with millions, but they learn that Showbusiness can always find a way to kick you in the teeth. Featuring a riotous mix of eccentric characters and the all-time classic song 'Springtime For Hitler', The Producers is the funniest Broadway musical of all time

Dancer Freddie Huddlestone climbs the side of the Dominion Theatre stage then taps - upside down - across the ceiling and back down the other side of the stage at WEST END HEROES at the Dominion Theatre. The amazing routine, choreographed by Matt Flint, was the highlight of STEP IN TIME, a high-energy tap dance tribute by The West End Heroes Dancers, to Disney's Mary Poppins, which this year is celebrating 50 years since its release. I like being busy; I thrive on it. So, when Tonight's the Night (the show I have been touring with for the last seven months) took its final curtain call on Saturday night, I was thrilled to know that I would be performing a cabaret of my own the very next day with my dear friend and musical director, Tom Wakeley.

Christmas (almost) endeth the year. Time to reflect? Well, of course! It's what one does. And what better venue to do it in than in a pub on Richmond Green with my nearest and dearest, where we shared our varying theatrical highlights and lowlights of the year.

It's ironic how much you have to work when you're an 'out of work' actor. It's a rare turn or twirlie who has a regular day job to fall back on as soon as a contract ends; one must be free to audition and able to drop everything at a moment's notice when the agent calls
