54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, presents 'ANDERSON & PETTY and a host of Broadway performers' in 'THE SONGS OF ANDERSON & PETTY' on Saturday, August 23rd, 2014 at 11pm.

Award-winning songwriter Hyeyoung Kim (SUNFISH, CAFE-IN) will present a one-night only concert of original material Thursday, August 21st, 2014, 8pm at the Indian Road Cafe, 600 W. 218th Street, New York, NY. There is no cover or food/drink minimum.

NATALIE DOUGLAS - the acclaimed vocalist hailed as 'sensational' by Time Out New York and 'stirring' by The New York Daily News - will introduce New York audiences to two unique new solo concerts at Birdland Jazz Club in September. 'FOUR WOMEN,' which celebrates the music of Dr. Nina Simone, Lena Horne, Abbey Lincoln and Billie Holiday, will have its US premiere on Monday, September 8 at 7:00 PM. The exciting evening of songs connected with these dynamic, iconic women includes 'Can't Help Lovin' That Man,' 'Throw It Away,' 'God Bless The Child,' and, of course, Dr. Simone's legendary composition, 'Four Women.' This program debuted in London earlier in 2014 and received a rare five-star review in The Times of London, which called her 'a true force of nature.'

Following the highly successful and critically acclaimed run of Chiara Atik's Women at The Peoples Improv Theater (NY Times Critic's Pick), The PIT has announced its newest theatrical comedy: Hold On To Your Butts, a LIVE shot-for-shot remake of Jurassic Park, performed by just two actors and a foley artist September 15-23.

PERISTALIS (look it up!) a dark comic jazz riff written and performed by Jerry Finkelstein will be performed as part of the New York International Fringe Festival at The White Box at 440 Studios, 440 Lafayette Street, off of Astor Place. Performances will be today, August 16 at 3:45 pm, Tuesday, August 19th at 5 pm, Thursday, August 21st and 9:15 pm and Saturday, August 23rd at 7:00 pm.

Spend the night with the jaded Fatigue?e Fourbu (Jackie Schiffer) and the sultry Dominique Joli (Angela Pierson) as they seize the stage for the cabaret of their lives. Having bribed the police to kidnap the owner of the dingy Chez Leple?e cabaret, the fading inge?nues and their mild-mannered accompanist Jean Paul Pierre (Jeremy Rafal, also Musical Director), ditch the Piaf and present the show they've always dreamed of performing.

Dorset Theatre Festival will present the song cycle from Dillingham City by the exciting writing team of Lucy Thurber and Matt Gould, as part of their New Play Reading Series on August 9th at 3 pm. The presentation, which will include songs from the show in development as well as a talk with the writers about their process, will be directed by Kent Nicolson, the acclaimed Director of Musical Theater and Literary Associate for Playwrights Horizons in New York City. A talk-back with the writers, cast and director will occur directly after the presentation.

MAC nominee Jim Speake brings back his acclaimed show celebrating the music of Broadway composer Cy Coleman for two more performances. 'I'm A Brass Band, Jim Speake Sings Cy Coleman at the Duplex' will play Saturday 11 October at 4:30pm and Sunday 19 October at 4:30pm. 54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents 'ANDERSON & PETTY and a host of Broadway performers' in 'THE SONGS OF ANDERSON & PETTY' on Saturday, August 23rd, 2014 at 11pm. Anderson & Petty, the transatlantic songwriting duo, present selections from their new song cycle, Lost, and also their recent album, 'You Are Home - The Songs of Anderson & Petty', which features both Broadway and West End stars including Frances Ruffelle, Coleen Sexton, Cynthia Erivo, Gina Beck and Autumn Hurlbert.

The current Stephen Sondheim tribute show, Our Time, starring KT Sullivan and Jeff Harnar at the Laurie Beechman (which I attended on July 9 and 16; there are two more Wednesday performances at 6pm on August 6, 13), is a charming, classy, and entertaining affair. But it also includes enough flaws in execution that prevent it from being truly great. For one thing, it doesn't really feel like a duo show. It's more like two solo performances within one show, where the performers fit in a couple of numbers together to justify the concept. A critique of the Sullivan/Harnar Sondheim set provides an interesting opportunity to analyze the anatomy of a duo show and the choices that can make it work—or not.
