NEW YORK MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL and Kim Vasquez/Gray Lady Entertainment are pleased to announce THERAPY ROCKS, a new modern musical with book by Karen Bishko, Kaethe Fine and Nat Bennett, music and lyrics by Karen Bishko direction by Thomas Caruso and choreographed by Rachel Bress as part of their 2010 showcase. Performances will run September 27th at 8 pm, September 29th at 1 pm, October 1st at 8 pm, October 2nd and 3rd at 4:30 pm, October 5th at 8 pm, October 6th at 1 pm and Friday, October 8th at 1pm at Urban Stages. Theatre Arlington presents an enjoyable production of The Full Monty with several outstanding performances in supporting roles.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced back in August that Bernadette Peters will star as Sally Durant Plummer in the Kennedy Center production of Follies in the Eisenhower Theater May 7 to June 5, 2011. Additionally, BroadwayWorld.com had heard that starring alongside Peters could be Sex and the City star and Golden Globe winner Kim Cattrall as Phyllis, Danny Burstein as Buddy and John Dossett as Ben, all of whom were cast and were then in contract negotiations. We've now heard from reliable sources that neither Cattrall or Dossett were able to work out their contract deals for the production and that both sides have moved in. Now said to be in talks? First lady of the British Musical Theatre Elaine Paige and Linda Lavin, who was most recently a 2010 Tony nominee for Collected Stories. More information to come soon...

Theatricum Botanicum artistic director Ellen Geer has announced a delightfully eclectic season of plays, music, poetry and comedy improv for Summer 2010.

The woods are alive with the sound of music! Ellen Geer will star as internationally renowned opera diva Maria Callas in Master Class by Terrence McNally, opening July 3 and continuing through September 25 at the outdoor Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga.

Five screenplays with GLBT themes or characters have been named finalists in the first Great Gay Screenplay Contest sponsored by Pride Films and Plays, and will be performed as staged readings in the Great Gay Screenplay Weekend on November 20 and 21 at the Center on Halsted.

All Asian American stars of Broadway and Off-Broadway To perform Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's musical INTO THE WOODS One night only October 11 in Manhattan

Virginia's Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre today announced that, due to popular demand, the world premiere comedy, starring Helen Hayes Award winners Sherri L. Edelen (Signature's Sweeney Todd and Les Miserables) and Nancy Robinette, written and directed by Helen Hayes Awardee Joe Calarco (Signature's Side Show and Assassins), will now run from October 26 through December 26, 2010.

Lead producers Margo Lion and Hal Luftig announced today that the new musical CATCH ME IF YOU CAN will open on Broadway Sunday, April 10, 2011 at a Nederlander theatre to be announced. This new musical, created by a team of Tony winners, features a book by Terrence McNally, music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, choreography by Jerry Mitchell and is directed by Jack O'Brien. Previews begin March 7, 2011. Casting and additional design team will be announced shortly.

Playwright Terrence McNally's MASTER CLASS is a fascinating peek at the life and legend of famed soprano Maria Callas, capturing the former opera star at a time when her talent was beginning to fade. The play is loosely based on events that occurred during actual classes that Callas taught in the early 1970's at the Juilliard School at Lincoln Center, and often reflects the passionate love of music that Callas possessed, as well as the bitterness she harbored at how she was treated prior to undergoing a dramatic weight loss. Stray Dog Theatre's current production of MASTER CLASS neatly conveys the complexities at work within this iconic figure.
