On Today, October 27, 2016 at 7:30pm the Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys and Orchestra of St. Luke's present Haydn's The Creation oratorio in the opening concert of the 2016/17 season. Displaying Haydn's unfussy optimism, The Creation features some of the most memorable and life-enhancing music ever written. Soloists include soprano Ellie Dehn who sings the parts of Gabriel and Eve. Versatile tenor Thomas Cooley sings Uriel and bass Craig Phillips sings the parts of Raphael and Adam.

Anthony Freud, Lyric's general director, president & CEO, announced today that French mezzo-soprano Sophie Koch has withdrawn from the company premiere of Berlioz's Les Troyens for personal reasons. Stepping into the role of Dido will be American mezzo-soprano Susan Graham, world-renowned as an interpreter of French repertoire, in general, with a special emphasis on the music of Berlioz.

San Francisco Opera Center Director Sheri Greenawald today announced the thirteen recipients of the 2017 Adler Fellowship. Nine singers, three pianist/apprentice coaches and one director will take part in the program-a multi-year performance-oriented residency offering advanced young artists intensive individual training, coaching and professional seminars, as well as a wide range of performance opportunities. Adler Fellows are selected from the young artists who have participated in the Merola Opera Program. The prestigious fellowship has nurtured the development of more than 175 young artists since its inception.

MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale) will celebrate its 75th anniversary during the 2016-2017 season, beginning with the New York premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon and Royce Vavrek's 27, specially adapted for MasterVoices, on October 20 and 21, 2016 at 8pm at New York City Center, 131 W. 55th Street, New York City.

This season marks the silver anniversary of Deborah Voigt's Metropolitan Opera debut, a milestone the Metropolitan Opera Guild looks forward to honoring at its annual luncheon this winter. Over the course of her long and distinguished career, however, the soprano has yet to help create a new opera. Carnegie Hall presents Orchestra of St. Luke's in three concerts this season in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, beginning on Thursday, October 13 at 8:00 p.m. The series kicks off with the orchestra's long-time friend and collaborator David Robertson leading a program that includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92; and selections from Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn featuring celebrated baritone Thomas Hampson. Also on the program is Brett Dean's Testament, a moving tribute to Beethoven's life and music inspired by his 1802 "Heiligenstadt Testament," the autobiographical manifesto in which the composer came to terms with the loss of his hearing early in his career.

Opera Exposures  (http://www.operaexposures.org), the not-for-profit opera company founded by Edna Greenwich in 2004, will present  a special recital celebrating  Elizabeth Taylor Browning, the first African American opera singer to gain recognition in Europe and the United States in the mid to late 19th century, on Sunday, September 18, at 3:00 PM at the Jewish Community Center of Staten Island, 1466 Manor Road.  Tickets, available at the door, are $25. Children under ten will be admitted free of charge.

The Merola Opera Program and the San Francisco Public Library Main Branch present a free screening of Mozart's opera The Marriage of Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro) at the next Merola Goes to the Movies, on Sunday, September 11th, 1:00 pm, in the Koret Auditorium of the San Francisco Public Library Main Branch (100 Larkin Street). Admission is free.

New York, NY - Sir Simon Rattle will conduct The Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys and Orchestra of St. Luke's in a special benefit concert to include Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughn Williams and Edward Elgar's Serenade for Strings on Sunday, September 18 at 7:00pm. The concert will be the last in a yearlong series of performances that have been offered at St Thomas Church Fifth Avenue in honor of Maestro John Scott who served as Organist and Director of Music for eleven years, and who died unexpectedly in August 2015.  Proceeds from the concert will be used to create a Saint Thomas Choir School scholarship to assist choristers in need which will be established in John Scott's memory.

The Harris Theater for Music and Dance, in association with Lyric Unlimited, has announced the return of Beyond the Aria - the highly acclaimed performance series produced by the Harris Theater which pairs internationally celebrated opera singers of Lyric's mainstage alongside rising stars from The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago.

The Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Chief Conductor and artistic director david Robertson are excited to announce their 2017 season, with offerings for every concert-goer, from classical music a cionados to lovers of new australian music and those looking forward to their first orchestral experience.

As previously announced, Esa-Pekka Salonen will conduct the three MET Orchestra at Carnegie Hall concerts scheduled for May and June 2017, replacing the originally announced James Levine. The programs have been revised to place a greater emphasis on the vocal works of Mahler. Additions to the programs include mezzo-soprano Karen Cargill and tenor Stuart Skelton, who will be singing Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde, and mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter, who will be singing Mahler's Kindertotenlieder.
