As BroadwayWorld first reported, the new Broadway musical DOCTOR ZHIVAGO, based on Boris Pasternak's Nobel Prize-winning 20th-century epic Russian masterpiece, will begin performances on Friday, March 27, 2015, and open on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway). This sweeping musical romance, which revolves around five intertwined lovers set against a panoramic portrait of a nation in upheaval, is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys), with a book by Academy Award nominee Michael Weller (Ragtime), music by Grammy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Lucy Simon (The Secret Garden), lyrics by Tony Award nominee Michael Korie (Grey Gardens) and Emmy Award nominee Amy Powers (Ella Enchanted), and choreography by Tony Award nominee Kelly Devine (Rocky). DOCTOR ZHIVAGO will be produced on Broadway by Anita Waxman, Tom Dokton, Latitude Link, Ted Hartley/RKO Stage and Chunsoo Shin, with Joe Corcoran, J. Todd Harris, The Pelican Group and John Frost. Disney Theatrical Productions and Broadway Across America announced today that tickets for the long-awaited return engagement of DISNEY'S THE LION KING will go on sale to the public on Friday, October 10th at 10:00a.m. Fort Lauderdale's most eagerly awaited return will once again leap onto the Au-Rene stage on Wednesday, January 7 for a limited engagement of 4 weeks through Sunday, February 1. The opening night is Friday, January 9 at 8:00p.m.

The national tour of THE LION KING returns to kick off the 10th Broadway In Boston season at the Boston Opera House, most fittingly as the musical reopened the venue following its historic renovation in 2004. THE LION KING Broadway cast member ALTON FITZGERALD WHITE will play his 4,000th performance as Mufasa in the landmark musical event this Saturday evening, August 23rd, 2014. White originated the role of Mufasa in the US touring production in 2002 and in a sit-down Las Vegas production in 2009, in addition to leading the flagship Broadway company intermittently since.
