Kansas City audiences can catch the one-night-only performance of Lucky Duck by the Coterie Theatre at 7 p.m. March 8 at the Folly Theater, 1020 Central. The musical comedy with its Kansas City cast will then take flight for its debut at the New Victory Theater in New York March 16-25.

Happy Birthday, Stephen Schwartz! In a career spanning over four decades, Schwartz has written such hit musicals as Godspell (1971), Pippin (1972) and Wicked (2003). He has also contributed lyrics for a number of successful films, including Pocahontas (1995), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996), The Prince of Egypt (1998; music and lyrics) and Enchanted (2007). Schwartz has won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics, three Grammy Awards, three Academy Awards and has been nominated for six Tony Awards.

Three time Oscar winner and four time Grammy award-winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz joins the 275 singers of San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus in two performances of his celebrated Broadway musical hits and film tunes in Enchantingly Wicked March 20 and 21 at Davies Symphony Hall (Tickets on sale through City Box Office starting February 1). Anchoring the program is 'Testimony', Schwartz' world premiere composed specifically for SFGMC. Schwartz has worked closely with Dan Savage, the founder of the 'It Gets Better Project' in selecting texts from those who have shared their lives' journeys and weaving those into the resulting breathtakingly poignant work.

Kristin Chenoweth to be Honored at Goodspeed Gala in August

Goodspeed Musicals just announced that Tony Award-winner Kristin Chenoweth, who appeared as Annie Draper in Goodspeed's production of Strike Up The Band, will be the latest recipient of The Goodspeed Award for Outstanding Contribution to Musical Theatre at its Gala on August 11, 2012. Previous honorees include Julie Andrews, Martin Charnin, Ira Gershwin, Jerry Herman, William Ivey Long, Thomas Meehan, Michael P. Price, Gerald Schoenfeld, Stephen Schwartz, Susan Stroman, Charles Strouse, Tommy Tune and Paul Williams.
Maryland University to Host GODSPELL Thru 3/4

Notre Dame of Maryland University has announced it will be presenting GODSPELL in memory of Julie Kline Rybczynski. This production will have musical direction by Stephen Holmes & Tiffany Underwood Holmes, direction from Gene Farrington, and choreography by Candace Sumner. It will run through March 4.
