The Flea to Present Stephen Lang in BEYOND GLORY, 6/5-6

The Flea Theater has announced Stephen Lang's BEYOND GLORY. Lang brings the stories of eight Medal of Honor recipients to the stage in this exciting one-man show adapted from Larry Smith's bestselling book, Beyond Glory. As a tribute to fallen soldiers, Lang has performed the show on military bases and on the floor of Congress as well as on Broadway. In the fall of 2013 filming began on a documentary Beyond Glory: Tour of Duty, following Lang as he toured the show throughout the Heartland and to the front lines in Afghanistan and the Middle East. Now he brings the show and the film crew to The Flea, in order to document the play in its entirety.

Next month TCG Publications will release 100 (Monologues), a collection of all of award-winning writer-actor Eric Bogosian's monologues from the series of acclaimed solo shows he wrote and starred in off-Broadway beginning in the mid '80's. The publication will include monologues by the three-time Obie Award and Drama Desk winner from his solo shows Drinking in America; Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll; Pounding Nails in the Floor with My Forehead, Wake Up and Smell The Coffee, FunHouse and Men Inside, as well as selections from his play Talk Radio

James Cameron to Finish Three AVATAR Sequels in Six Weeks

As previously announced, James Cameron is working on three sequels for Avatar, which hit the big screen in 2009. On Reddit, Cameron offered an update on his progress. He wrote, 'The second, third and fourth films all go into production simultaneously. They're essentially all in preproduction now, because we are designing creatures, settings, and characters that span all three films. And we should be finished with all three scripts within the next, I would say, six weeks.'

The New York Philharmonic's staged production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street will be telecast nationally on Live From Lincoln Center, hosted by Audra McDonald, on PBS stations. The air date will be announced at a later time. The production, which opened last night and will run through March 8, 2014, stars bass-baritone Bryn Terfel in the title role and Academy Award-winning actressEmma Thompson as Mrs. Lovett in her Philharmonic debut, New York stage debut, and first time performing the role. Jeff Blumenkrantz will portray The Beadle; Tony Award winnerChristian Borle, Pirelli (marking his Philharmonic debut); Kyle Brenn, Tobias Ragg (debut); Jay Armstrong Johnson,Anthony Hope (debut); Erin Mackey, Johanna (debut); and Olivier Award winner Philip Quast, Judge Turpin (debut and New York stage debut). Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct, Grant Sturiale is the assistant conductor, Lonny Price will direct, Lonny Price and Matt Cowart are the producers, and Josh Rhodes is the choreographer. Stephen Lang, award winning playwright, stage and screen star, is bringing back his acclaimed stage production of BEYOND GLORY and will take it on the road this fall. The show will make a stop at the Marcus Center's Uihlein Hall for ONE NIGHT ONLY on Monday, November 11 at 7:30 pm. This special event will take place on Veterans Day and is part of the Marcus Center's mission as a designated War Memorial to 'Honor the Dead by Serving the Living.' A portion of ticket revenue will go to support the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative. Tickets go on sale this Sunday, September 29.
