Monday night, a kickoff dinner was held honoring the 2017 Directors Project fellows. The dinner took place at the home of Broadway producers and BroadwayHD co-founders Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley. The guest of honor of the evening was Moritz von Stuelpnagel (director of Present Laughter, Hand To God), who is a Directors Project alumnus himself.

The Drama League (Executive Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks) has announced the eleven exceptional stage directors who have been selected as the 2017 Directing Fellows of The Drama League Directors Project.

The Drama League (Executive Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks) has announced full casting for DirectorFest 2016: The 33rd Annual Directors Festival, an evening of four short plays staged by The Drama League Directors Project Fall Directing Fellows Candis C. Jones, James Dean Palmer, Jesca Prudencio, and Shaun Patrick Tubbs.

Karen Pittman, best known for playing the role of Jory in the Tony-nominated play Disgraced and starring in the TV series 'The Americans,' and Richard Topol, known for numerous Broadway appearances, most recently with Larry David in Fish in the Dark, both star in Chautauqua Theater Company's (CTC) Signature Staged Reading of The Glow Overhead.

Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC) continues its significant commitment to new play development under the co-leadership of Artistic Directors Vivienne Benesch and Andrew Borba with Signature Staged Readings of The Glow Overhead written by Nick Gandiello, and directed by Sherri Eden Barber, running August 3 - 5 as part of the 2016 season's New Play Workshop. The Glow Overhead plays on the Bratton Theater stage at the Chautauqua Institution.

The Drama League announced today that Jennifer Sunshine has been appointed the company's new Development Director, beginning July 11th, 2016.  Ms. Sunshine is the final new addition to The Drama League's leadership, three of whom were announced last month: Associate Producer Travis LeMont Ballenger, Program Director Sherri Eden Barber, and Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, whose position was expanded to Executive Artistic Director.  The announcement caps a transformative season for The Drama League, in which the organization broke fundraising records, served over 3,000 artists, and celebrated its 100th anniversary.

The Drama League today announced the new team to replace longtime artistic director Roger T. Danforth, who departs the storied company this summer. Travis LeMont Ballenger has been named to the newly created position of Associate Producer, and Sherri Eden Barber will assume the role of Program Director. Gabriel Stelian-Shanks will see his position expanded to the role of Executive Artistic Director

On May 2nd, The 24 Hour Company® is teaming with The Exchange, an off-Broadway theater company, to create the eighth annual The 24 Hour Musicals to be held at the Highline Ballroom. A team of more than 100 - including stars from Broadway, film, television, and music - will cast, write, compose, direct, rehearse, tech, and perform four original musicals - all in the obscenely short time between an evening meet-and-greet on Sunday, May 1st and show time on Monday, May 2 at 8pm. The event benefits the Exchange's summer program, The Orchard Project, which incubates and accelerates innovative new theatrical work from around the world.

59E59 Theaters will welcome the Ricochet Collective with HAPPILY AFTER EVER, written by Laura Zlatos and directed by Sherri Eden Barber. HAPPILY AFTER EVER begins performances on Wednesday, March 30 for a limited engagement through Saturday, April 16.  Press opening is Wednesday, April 6 at 7:30 PM.  The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 PM; Friday - Saturday at 8:30 PM; and Sunday at 3:30 PM. Poetic Theater Productions announces the line up for their 5th annual festival of new poetic theater. Theatreworks USA (Barbara Pasternack, Artistic Director; Ken Arthur, Producing Director) will continue its 2016 weekend family performance series this Sunday, January 31st, with The Lightning Thief, a musical adapted from the book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. The Lightning Thief features a book by Joe Tracz with music, lyrics, & orchestrations by Rob Rokicki. The Off-Broadway premiere of The Lightning Thief was nominated for Outstanding Musical by the Lortel Awards in 2015. This 60-minute musical is recommended for audiences age 8 and up.

IRT and Ricochet Collective welcome Jody Flader (The Slug Bearers... at The Vineyard) to the cast of the World Premiere of GORDY CRASHES, by Sam Byron. Directed by Sherri Eden Barber, previews began June 5 at IRT Theater with opening night slated for tonight, June 12. Flader replaces Clea Alsip, who leaves to join the cast of Neil Labute's The Way We Get By with Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski.
