Artistic Director, Nick A. Olivero, has tapped into a desperate and titillating underground in the world-premiere urban rock musical Rent Boy Ave.: A Fairy's Tale. Closing Boxcar's 2008-2009 season themed 'fairy tales' the story follows David, a new kid to the street, and Mark, a veteran of male prostitution at the early age of seventeen. The two of them struggle to survive a nasty world littered with innocent looking old men with an indecent taboo sensibility, sharp pangs of irreconcilable hunger and a bible-thumping fishnet-wearing nun. As a modern day Hansel and Gretel, they navigate their way through dangerous alleys and pal around with Jackie, a Little Red Riding Hood-like prostitute fighting a drug addiction to meth with a big bad wolf pimp who won't let her go. However, it doesn't take long for David to slip down the rabbit's hole and start selling drugs and eventually conspire with Jackie to kill her pimp. Mark, on the other hand, becomes engrossed by the fairy godmother nun, Sister Mercy, and escapes the embittered streets to a destiny unknown.

Transport Group Delays First Preview of BEING AUDREY, Now Begins 3/28

The production has delayed its first preview originally planned for tonight, Friday 27th, the show will now begin on Saturday, March 28th to allow the company an extra amount of rehearsal time, stated a Transport Group spokesperson.

Perlman; musical direction, arrangements, and orchestrations by Lanny Meyers; musical staging and choreography by Scott Rink; and directed by Jack Cummings III, beginning Friday, March 27, at 8:00pm at 220 East 4 Street, between Avenues A and B. The opening is set for Sunday, April 5, at 3pm.

He was then drafted into the army and stationed in Kyoto, Japan and South Korea for two years. He used the drawing skills he honed in adolescence working as cartoonist for the Pacific military newspaper Stars and Stripes.

Foster and Masur to Star in DUST at Westside Theatre Starting 11/18

Dust, a new thriller starring Emmy Award nominee Richard Masur (Democracy, 'All My Children') and Tony Award nominee Hunter Foster (Urinetown, Little Shop of Horrors), begins performances at The Westside Theatre (downstairs) on November 18th. Written by Billy Goda and directed by Scott Zigler, Dust also features Laura E. Campbell, Curtis McClarin and John Schiappa. Opening night is Thursday, December 4th at 7:00PM.
