A&E Network will premiere the new original scripted drama series, 'Damien.' The hour-long drama from Fox 21 Television Studios and executive producer Glen Mazzara is a follow-up to the classic horror film, The Omen. Currently in production in Toronto, 'Damien' will premiere a 10-episode season on A&E, increased from the initial six-episode straight to series order. The announcement was made today by Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President & General Manager, A&E and Lifetime.

Indian super-star musician and composer A. R. Rahman, best known in the United States for his Academy Award-, Golden Globe-, and Grammy-winning score for Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire, will appear in person for the world premiere of Jai Ho, a new documentary about his career, at Museum of the Moving Image on Wednesday, February 25, at 7:00 p.m. The film, directed by Umesh Aggarwal, traces milestones in Rahman's personal and professional life and features spectacular concert footage and interviews with Rahman, Danny Boyle, Shekhar Kapur, Mani Ratnam, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and other collaborators. After the screening, Rahman will participate in a discussion moderated by Scott Foundas, Chief Film Critic, Variety.

Sundance Institute today announced the projects and artists that will participate in its two Fall artist development programs: the inaugural Playwrights Studio at Flying Point in Water Mill, NY (October 19-26), as well as the two-week Theatre Lab (November 30 - December 14) for musical theatre, ensemble-generated projects and solo work at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA). STREETCAR May Be Broadway-bound With Multiracial Cast

The Sydney Theater Company's production of 'A Streetcar Named Desire' helmed by Liv Ullman and starring Cate Blanchett was an immediate success when it played a limited engagement at the BAM Harvey Theatre late last year. Since the closing of the show, rumors abound of a possible Broadway run. An entry in the The New York Times' ArtsBeat blog today reports that Stephen C. Byrd, the producer who holds the rights to 'Streetcar' has decided not to attempt to transfer the Sydney Theatre Company's production. Instead, spokesman Gary Springer said on Tuesday that a revival of sorts may be in the works, incorporating a multiracial cast into the production, while eyeing a Broadway run in the Spring 2011.

This year 235 feature length, documentary and short films - from 57 countries - will be screened over a six-day period In locations throughout the state, all vying for top awards. Out of over 7,000 film festivals worldwide, RIIFF is one of only 63 Academy Award qualifying Festivals. This year's films have been selected from a record entry base of over 3,000 submissions.
