City Parks Foundation, in partnership with Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams and Council Member Mark Treyger are thrilled to announce that SummerStage is returning to theFord Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk in Brooklyn this summer for five free concerts between June and August.

City Parks Foundation is excited to present Liam Gallagher and Richard Ashcroft at SummerStage in Central Park on May 16th, produced by The Bowery Presents. Tickets are available for purchase HERE. This is the first Benefit Show of the SummerStage 2018 season, with the free season opening show coming up on Saturday, June 2nd in Central Park, featuring jazz great Gregory Porter with rising soul star Victory, in association with Blue Note Jazz Festival! Proceeds from SummerStage Benefit Shows help make possible the free programs of City Parks Foundation. 

On Thursday, September 28, 2017, The Flea Theater, the 21 year old off-off-Broadway theater known for raising a joyful hell in a small space , joyfully unveiled its new home at 20 Thomas Street.

The League of Independent Theater (LIT) will hold a rally for the candidates they've endorsed in the 2017 New York City election races on Tuesday, May 23 at 1pm on the steps of the Kraine Theatre at 85 E. 4th St in Manhattan. On Sunday, January 29, 2017, the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust joins with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene to honor the memory of Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel, who died on July 2, 2016, by presenting a community reading of his landmark memoir NIGHT, which tells of his experience in German concentration camps with his father during the Holocaust.

Theater for the New City's Executive Director, Crystal Field, has announced that they will honor celebrated actor/director/teacher Austin Pendleton at this year's annual fundraising gala LOVE N' COURAGE.

NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP, joined City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer, Congressman Charlie Rangel, Diane Collier, chair of Community Board 11, Friends of White Park and multiple community and children's groups to cut the ribbon on reconstructed White Park in East Harlem/El Barrio. The park has been reconstructed to better suit the needs of people of various ages and abilities, and to provide additional play and educational value for the neighborhood's children and young adults.

More than 400 guests joined Olympians and stars of stage and screen to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) students at the annual Point Honors gala the landmark New York Public Library last night. The evening celebrated the accomplishments of Point Foundation's (Point), higher education scholarship recipients. More than $500,000 was raised for Point, the nation's largest scholarship-granting organization for LGBTQ students of merit.

In 2013, the year Theater for the New City burned its mortgage, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer declared January 26 to be Theater for the New City Appreciation Day. This year, the theater is celebrating with festivities on that day beginning at 7:00 PM. There will be a benefit bake sale, performances by Kitty Lunn and the dance/percussion troupe COBU and a special presentation by playwright Jean-Claude van Itallie.

Two New Yorkers who have been staunch advocates of new works for the theater - the late actress and philanthropist Betsy Von Furstenberg, along with sculptor and painter Donn Russell - will be honored when Theater for the New City, the Lower East Side theater complex now in its 30th year, presents its annual fundraising gala LOVE N' COURAGE on February 22 at 6 pm at the National Arts Club (15 Gramercy Park South in Manhattan), it has been announced by Crystal Field, TNC's Executive Director.

As part of the eleventh edition of the COIL Festival, Performance Space 122, in partnership with Paradise Factory, present the New York premiere of The Holler Sessions, written and performed by Seattle-based performer Frank Boyd in collaboration with the TEAM.

On Thursday evening, The New York Women's Foundation (NYWF) held its annual Fall Gala in The Grand Ballroom of The Plaza Hotel in New York City. The evening's honorees included Ambassador Samantha Power, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations; Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori, creators of the Tony Award-winning musical, FUN HOME, and corporate honoree Citi. TODAY's Hoda Kotb served as the evening's Mistress of Ceremony. The event raised $680,000 which will help to support NYWF's more than 70 women-led, community grantee-partner organizations. Carmine's on the Upper West Side (2450 Broadway, NYC, 212-362-2200, carminesnyc.com) celebrated its 25th anniversary on Monday evening in grand fashion. Broadway actors from 'Jersey Boys' -- Joseph Leo Bwarie, Richard Blake and Miles Aubrey -- along with Preston Truman Boyd from 'On the 20th Century' performed for party guests and enjoyed Carmine's classic Italian favorites.

On Saturday, July 25, 2015, NYC Parks joined Comptroller Scott Stringer, Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer, City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, Councilmembers Ydanis Rodriguez, Mark Levine and Vanessa L. Gibson, Assemblywoman Latoya Joyner, State Senator Adriano Espaillat and community members to kick off the High Bridge Festival.
