Bucks County Playhouse Producers Alexander Fraser, Robyn Goodman, Stephen Kocis, and Josh Fiedler announce complete casting for the remaining 2014 75th anniversary summer seaso

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that a special free one-night event, PUBLIC FORUM: SHAKESPEARE IN AMERICA, will take place on Monday, June 30 at 8:00 p.m. at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, with a line-up that includes Sarah Amengual, Michael Cerveris, Colman Domingo, James Earl Jones, Cynthia Nixon, Annie-B Parson, Steven Pasquale, and Michael Stuhlbarg, celebrating the world's greatest writer, American-style. Highlights of the evening will include James Earl Jones reading a scene from Othello, marking his return to the Delacorte after a 40-year absence and celebrating the 50th anniversary of his playing Othello on the Delacorte stage; Michael Cerveris reading a letter by John Wilkes Booth; and Steven Pasquale singing Tony in the "Tonight" duet from West Side Story.

Asia Society, PEN World Voices Festival and Performance Space 122 present the New York City premiere of 33 RPM and a Few Seconds, a brave new work by Lebanese theater artists Rabih Mroue and Lina Saneh, as part of the 10th Annual PEN World Voices Festival. A multi-media theater performance devoid of actors, 33 RPM and a Few Seconds reconstructs the final moments of a life after the suicide of a young Lebanese man.

The PEN World Voices Festival is an annual, week-long festival of international literature founded by Salman Rushdie and Paul Auster. This year, the Martin E. Segal Theatre Center will host readings of nine seminal plays from five continents by some of the world's most important and exciting dramatists at their PEN World Voices: International Play Festival.

PEN American Center announced today that acclaimed writer Colm Toibin will serve as Chairman of the PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature, beginning with next year's Festival. Founded and chaired by Salman Rushdie for a decade, the Festival brings together writers and public intellectuals from around the globe to encourage cross-cultural dialogues on issues central to individual rights and freedoms.

Last night at Joe's Pub at The Public, Harvey Fierstein, who played a celebrated Tevye in the 2004 revival of Fiddler; Fiddler on the Roof co-creator Sheldon Harnick; original Broadway cast member Austin Pendleton; renowned Yiddish theatermaker Jenny Romaine; Taniesha Duggan, Director of Audience Engagement of Hartbeat Ensemble; andAlisa Solomon, author of Wonder of Wonders, discussed how successive generations of storytellers used Sholom-Alechem's characters to reflect changing concerns about family, identity, and more. Though pursuing radically different projects—the life of eunuch Mona Ahmed in Delhi and the contested valley of Kashmir—these artists represent the vitality and diversity of contemporary art in India. The work of photographer Dayanita Singh will be on view in Gallery 292 through June 1, 2014, and Nilima Sheikh: Each Night Put Kashmir in Your Dreams will be presented from March 8 through May 18, 2014 in Galleries 182–184.

The next great medici.tv experience is tomorrow, Friday, February 7, at 2pm EST, with the live webcast of Charles Wuorinen's opera Brokeback Mountain, in its much-anticipated premiere production at Madrid's Teatro Real. Wuorinen, the 75-year-old composer who has both a Pulitzer Prize and a MacArthur 'genius' grant to his credit, based his opera on the short story of the same name by fellow Pulitzer-winner Annie Proulx, who also penned the libretto (her first). The heartbreaking story of a complex emotional-sexual relationship between two Wyoming cowboys over 20 years starting in 1963 earned wide renown in Ang Lee's 2005 film version, which won three Academy Awards among many other international prizes. The New York Times first-night review of the Madrid production called Wuorinen's opera 'a serious work, an impressive achievement,' praising the 'intricate, vibrantly orchestrated and often brilliant score that conveys the oppressiveness of the forces that defeat these two men.' The review also described the stage production by Belgian director Ivo van Hove as 'starkly beautiful,' with the conducting by Titus Engel drawing 'a pulsing, incisive performance' from the orchestra. The opera stars Canadian bass-baritone Daniel Okulitch and American tenor Tom Randle as the closeted ranch hands Ennis del Mar and Jack Twist. The Times review pointed out: 'The cast, to a member, embraces every chance to maximize every lyrical bit in the vocal writing.'

Theatre Passe Muraille (TPM) will present Same Same But Different by Anita Majumdar. Co-produced by TPM and the Alberta Theatre Projects in association with Nightswimming, the production highlights prejudices that are sometimes hidden under the colourful facade of Bollywood films. Combining the glamour of Bollywood music, dance and glitter, Same Same But Different is directed by Nightswimming Artistic Director Brian Quirt, starring Majumdar, Nicco Lorenzo Garcia and the voice of Reza Jacobs, on stage at the TPM Mainspace (16 Ryerson Ave.) from Feb. 15 to Mar. 8, 2014.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark, the Broadway spectacular that defied odds and expectations to conquer New York, will play its final performance at the Foxwoods Theatre on January 4, 2014. Since the announcement, there has been speculation as to whether the show, which ran for 3 years on Broadway, will make it to the infamous wall of flops at Joe Allen (326 West 46th Street).

Now according to the Las Vegas Sun, Wynn is making space for the musical at the Encore Theatre. Robin Leach writes: 'I can safely confirm Steve's "very serious interest" in moving the high-flying spectacular to open in his Encore Theater in a year, but nothing is apparently yet signed and sealed. He's prepared to financially back its revamped version, adding incredible, stunning Las Vegas elements to the extravaganza.'
