National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced recently that Nashville Ballet is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide-and only one of two organizations in Tennessee-to receive an NEA Art Works grant.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced today that Sarasota Opera is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. Sarasota Opera is recommended for a $30,000 grant to support to support performances of Carlisle Floyd's opera Of Mice and Men, as part of the third year of the 'American Classics Series,' accompanied by significant educational programming.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced last week that Steppenwolf Theatre Company is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant in the amount of $100,000. The grant supports the world-premiere production of Head of Passes by ensemble member Tarell Alvin McCraney, directed by ensemble member Tina Landau in the Downstairs Theatre, April 4 - June 9, 2013.

TheatreWorks Receives NEA Grant for New Works Initiative

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced yesterday that TheatreWorks is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. TheatreWorks will receive a $30,000 grant to support the creation of new plays and musicals through the New Works Initiative. The 832 grant awards total $23.3 million and encompass 13 artistic disciplines and fields.

Creede Rep Theatre Awarded NEA Grant for 2013 Young Audience Outreach Tour

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced today that Creede Repertory Theatre (CRT) is one of 153 not-for-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Challenge America Fast-Track grant. CRT is recommended for a $10,000 grant to support the 2013 Young Audience Outreach Tour. Working alongside Tony Garcia and Daniel Valdez of Denver's nationally acclaimed theatre company Su Teatro, the 2013 Tour will bring excellent theatre to over 19,000 children from rural and underserved schools throughout the Southwest.

American Opera Projects Receives NEA Grant

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced last week that AOP (American Opera Projects) is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. AOP is recommended for a $15,000 grant to support the creation, development and presentation of Nkeiru Okoye's folk opera Harriet Tubman: When I Crossed the Line to Freedom, during 2013, the 100th anniversary year of Tubman's death and the 150th anniversary of The Emancipation Proclamation. Performances of the opera will occur in states along the Underground Railroad where Tubman was active.

The Brooklyn Museum and the MFA have been recommended a $50,000 grant to support the exhibition John Singer Sargent Watercolors, a collaborative project of the two museums.

Cygnet Theatre is recommended for a $10,000 grant to support Gem of the Ocean, the first play of the August Wilson Cycle Plays. The grant also helps support outreach activities including post show forums and a presentation of Walking in the Shadows of August Wilson by Antonio T.J. Johnson. In total, nine San Diego non-profits received grants in this latest round of funding totaling $213,000.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman, together with TheatreSquared (T2) Artistic Director Robert Ford and Managing Director Martin Miller, announced today that T2 has been selected to receive a $20,000 NEA Art Works Grant to support the theatre's Arkansas New Play Festival. With performances scheduled for June 13-16, 2013 in both Fayetteville and at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre in Little Rock, the Festival will bring together more than 50 artists from across the nation to develop and perform new plays for the American stage.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival learned today that it is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. OSF was recommended for a $100,000 grant to support Naomi Wallace's new work, The Liquid Plain, which will be staged in the Thomas Theatre in 2013 and run from July 2 to November 3.
