The NY Dance and Performance Awards, the Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, today announced that the nominees for the 2017 Outstanding Emerging Choreographer Award are Lela Aisha Jones, Niall Jones, Will Rawls, and Kate Skarpetowska. The Bessies are also thrilled to announce that Abby Zbikowski will receive the 2017 Juried Bessie Award.

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced the complete list of the 2015-16 season award recipients tonight at the 32nd Annual Bessie Awards ceremony. Awards were presented in the categories of Outstanding Production, Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Music Composition/Sound Design, and Outstanding Visual Design, with additional awards presented for Lifetime Achievement and Outstanding Service to the Field of Dance. ? Columbia Ballet Collaborative (CBC) is pleased to present a program of six original and restaged works for its upcoming spring performances. Founded in 2007 by five professional ballet dancers enrolled at Columbia University, CBC is comprised of students from all of the University's undergraduate colleges and affiliates.

American Dance Machine for the 21st Century (ADM21) will return to New York City's Joyce Theater (175 Eighth Avenue), staring Monday, December 21 through Sunday, January 3rd. Nikki Feirt Atkins is Founder and Producing Artistic Director of ADM21. Directed by Tony Award® winner Wayne Cilento (Wicked, Sweet Charity revival, Aida, The Who's Tommy), this year's program will include theatre dances from 'Broadway and Beyond' with live music provided by musical directorEugene Gwozdz. This return to The Joyce follows last year's sold out performances and promises once again, to rekindle old memories for theater dance enthusiasts and spark the imagination of audiences not yet familiar with these masterpieces. The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announce the lineup of special guests for the 2015 ceremony. Acclaimed former New York City Ballet principal Jock Soto and performance artist and playwright Carmelita Tropicana will host the event. The 31st Annual Bessie Awards will be held on Monday, October 19, at 7:30pm, at the legendary Apollo Theater in New York City. Doors open at 6:30pm for red carpet and pre-show celebrations.

The 37 nominees were selected by the Bessies Selection Committee, an independent committee of 39 dance industry professionals. Produced in partnership with Dance/NYC, Bessie Award categories include Outstanding Production, Outstanding Revival, Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Music Composition or Sound Design, and Outstanding Visual Design. American Ballet Theatre will welcome over 200 former Company members as part of a 75th Anniversary alumni weekend. The weekend will include a special showing by the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School and a dancer seminar. The events will conclude with alumni attending a performance of Giselle today evening, May 23. The performance features Stella Abrera in her ABT debut as Giselle, opposite Guest Artist Vladimir Shkylarov as Albrecht and Veronika Part as Myrta.

NEW YORK, September 30, 2014 - The New York Dance and Performance Awards (The Bessies), NYC's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced today the host of the anniversary ceremony that is to be held at the legendary Apollo Theater. Broadway playwright, actress and 1993 Bessie awardee Lisa Kron will host the 30th Annual Bessie Awards. Produced in partnership with Dance/NYC, the awards will take place October 20, 7:30 p.m. Nominees will arrive starting 6:00 p.m. for Red Carpet press interviews and photo opportunities.
