The Dozen Divas (Dorothy Bishop) performed at at the Metropolitan Room last night and Broadwayworld was there.  This was a special show to celebrate the birthday of Sandra McFarland and all the  divas present came wrapped up in one person: international performer and 'America's Got Talent' finalist Dorothy Bishop.

Slate and The Second City are pleased to announce casting for 'Unelectable You,' a new live political comedy show launching at UP Comedy Club in Chicago on July 28 before heading out on a national tour this election season. Letters from Georgia, a new song cycle based on the letters of painter Georgia O'Keeffe and composed by Pulitzer Prize-winner Kevin Puts, will receive its world premiere performances on November 12th and 14th, sung by four-time Grammy Award-winning soprano Renee Fleming and accompanied by the Eastman Philharmonia under the direction of Neil Varon.

Chamber Music America (CMA) today announced the appointment of pianist and composer Billy Childs as president of its board of directors, effective July 1. Childs is the organization's ninth board president, and the first jazz musician elected to the position. The CMA board of directors unanimously approved his first three-year term at its June 6th meeting.

On Thursday, June 16, the San Francisco Opera honored Company General Director David Gockley with a gala evening and concert titled Celebrating David! Many of the leading artists from the world of opera gathered to honor one of the great careers in the modern history of the art form. Gockley, who in 2014 announced that he would retire from his position as General Director at the completion of the 2015­­-16 Season on July 31, has led a storied career of more than 40 years as an opera impresario.

Although the solstice doesn't officially appear for another week or so, the summer opera clock is already ticking. There's a plethora of performances going on all over New York City, in addition to interesting, entertaining and fascinating productions that are just a hop, skip and jump away.
