National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $82 million to fund local arts projects and partnerships in the NEA's second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2016. Included in this announcement is an Art Works award of $14,000 to Ardea Arts for the creation ofBOUNCE The Basketball Opera. The Art Works category supports the creation of work and presentation of both new and existing work, lifelong learning in the arts, and public engagement with the arts through 13 arts disciplines or fields.

Goodman Theatre announces Broadway stars John Dossett and Douglas Sills will join the cast of War Paint, a new musical starring two-time Tony Award winners Patti LuPone and Christine Ebersole as Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden, respectively. Dossett will portray Tommy Lewis, Miss Arden's husband and chief marketing officer, and Sills will portray the ambitious Harry Fleming, Madame Rubinstein's clubby confidante and faithful ally.

Following its initial casting announcement in April, The Muny announced today additional principal cast members for its spectacular 98th season. MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale)will open its 75th anniversary season with Ricky Ian Gordon's 27, with libretto by Royce Vavrek, starring Stephanie Blythe, Heidi Stober,Theo Lebow, Tobias Greenhalgh, and Daniel Brevik, conducted by Ted Sperling, and directed by James Robinson, with Orchestra of St. Luke's on October 20 and 21, 2016at New York City Center.

Streisand is coming to Cortland!  Not only that, she's bringing her friends Cher, Dolly, Liza, Adele and more when The Dozen Divas arrive at Cortland Repertory Theatre Downtown on Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16.  Even more amazing, all these divas come wrapped up in one person: international performer and "America's Got Talent" finalist Dorothy Bishop. This multi-talented singer and impersonator will perform her live - not lip-synced - production at the new CRT Downtown theatre at 24 Port Watson Street in Cortland.  Doors will open at 7:00 and the performance begins at 7:30.

Last Friday night, Adam Gopnik and Melissa Errico entertained at one of the most exciting new performance spaces in Brooklyn called National Sawdust+, already celebrated for its innovative programming. Recent performances featured Julie Taymor and Renee Fleming, and upcoming is a an evening with Patti Smith and a Celebration of Laura Nyro (which will feature Melissa Errico and Jeanine Tesori, directed by Michael Mayer). Tenor Matthew Polenzani--he of the refined singing, elegant deportment and serious nature--is having a great season at the Met, with major roles in a pair of new productions. First, he was Nadir, whose love for the priestess Leila (Diana Damrau) tempts her to give up her vows in Bizet's LES PECHEURS DE PERLES (THE PEARL FISHERS). Now he's working his mojo on no less than Elisabetta (Elizabeth I, the Virgin Queen of England), in the new production of Donizetti's ROBERTO DEVEREUX at the Met, premiering March 24.
