Last night, the 2011 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed out to recipients in 14 categories and 3 special awards. THE PEARL THEATRE COMPANY (J.R. Sullivan, Artistic Director; Shira Beckerman, Managing Director) will present Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley in a one-night cabaret benefit on Monday, May 2, 2011 at B.B. King Blues Club. The master of ceremonies will be Stephen Wallem of Showtime's 'Nurse Jackie.' The event is in support of The Pearl Theatre Company.

The 56th Annual Drama Desk Awards, hosted by Harvey Fierstein, will be held Monday, May 23, at 9:00 PM at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan Center, 8th Avenue and 34th Street. This year, for the first time, a 90-minute Highlights Special of the Drama Desk Awards Ceremony will be televised nationally on OVATION, the national cable network dedicated to presenting creative arts programming to national TV audiences. The ceremony will be given two primetime broadcasts plus four other airings between June 4 and June 19, 2011.

Retro Productions (Heather E. Cunningham, Artistic Director), six-time 2010 New York Innovative Theatre Awards nominee for The Desk Set, will present Norman Krasna's screwball comedy Dear Ruth May 4 through 21, 2011 at the Spoon Theater (38 West 38th St., 5th Floor).

THE PEARL THEATRE COMPANY (J.R. Sullivan, Artistic Director; Shira Beckerman, Managing Director) announces its 2011-2012 season at New York City Center Stage II with a four-play set spanning from the 1590s to the 1950s. With works by Eugène Ionesco, William Shakespeare, Bernard Shaw, and Eugene O'Neill, the 28th Season for The Pearl begins September 13, 2011 and concludes April 15, 2012. Subscriptions for the season are now on sale, while single tickets will become available beginning in August through CityTix® at New York City Center.

Chicago Dramatists, 1105 W. Chicago Avenue, will present the World Premiere of Bordello, a Susan Smith Blackburn Prize nominee, by Resident Playwright Aline Lathrop. Bordello will close March 6, 2011. Northlight Theatre Literary Manager and Chicago Dramatists Associate Artist Meghan Beals McCarthy will direct.
