Vineyard Theatre will soon stage the world premiere of Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' newest play GLORIA, with previews starting Thursday, May 28, prior to opening Monday, June 15. Evan Cabnet will direct GLORIA, with a cast that includes Jeanine Serralles, Jennifer Kim, Catherine Combs, Kyle Beltran, Michael Crane and Ryan Spahn. The Public Theater announced a two-week extension today for Elevator Repair Service's acclaimed THE SOUND AND THE FURY. Directed by John Collins, THE SOUND AND THE FURY begins performances in The Public's Martinson Theater on Thursday, May 14 with an official press opening on Thursday, May 21. The show will now run an additional two weeks through Saturday, June 27. THE SOUND AND THE FURY will mark the third collaboration between The Public and Elevator Repair Service, having previously presented Gatz and Arguendo.

The Off-Broadway League today announced nominations in 18 categories for the 30th Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Lortel Awards will be handed out on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00 PM EST, and hosted by Emmy-nominated actors Anna Chlumsky (“Veep,” Broadway's Living on Love) and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (“Modern Family,” this summer's The Tempest). This year's event will once again benefit The Actors Fund.

The Public Theater announced additional casting today for the 2015 Free Shakespeare in the Park season, beginning Wednesday, May 27 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. This summer will feature Shakespeare's late romances with THE TEMPEST, directed by Tony Award nominee Michael Greif, and CYMBELINE, directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan. Jesse Tyler Ferguson will return to the Park this summer as Trinculo in THE TEMPEST, along with Hamish Linklater and Lily Rabe teaming up again with Daniel Sullivan on CYMBELINE to play Posthumus Leonatus/Cloten and Imogen, respectively.

Due to popular demand, Theatre for A New Audience's production of Soho Rep.'s An Octoroon has been extended again and will play through March 29, Theatre for a New Audience Founding Artistic Director Jeffrey Horowitz announced.

Theatre for A New Audience presents Soho Rep.'s An Octoroon. Branden Jacobs-Jenkins's widely acclaimed play, directed by Sarah Benson, Artistic Director, Soho Rep, has played to sold out houses since previews began on February 14 and as a result of strong ticket sales, has added eight additional performances. Originally scheduled to end its run on March 8, An Octoroon will now play through March 15 at Theatre for a New Audience, Polonsky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Place, Brooklyn. THE METROMANIACS, the sparkling new comedy by David Ives playing at the Lansburgh Theater, has added performances, extending the run through March 15, 2015.

THE METROMANIACS might not be Moliere but it is a delicious romp thanks to the expert direction by Shakespeare Theatre Company artistic director Michael Kahn and playwright David Ives. Ives new comedy in English is taken from a rediscovered farce, LA METROMANIE by Alexis Piron. If the winter weather has got you down, I urge you to get tickets to THE METROMANIACS for disguises and ruses and verse-ical abuses. Kahn and Ives third collaboration as director and playwright/adapter - after THE LIAR and THE HEIR APPARENT - have struck gold again finding high art in the silliness of lesser known French comedies.
