Martin Mirkheim, small time chiseler and producer, perilously in debt, decides to finance a film of a book called 'Daniel Strong,' written by a pseudo-religious, late night self help guru. Mirkheim's efforts include drug dealing and deception to achieve what he feels is a 'pure goal.' The play is a disturbingly entertaining indictment of American values, filled with brilliant gutter language and tightly-wound characters whose eagerness to be 'strong' made them the New American Monsters of their time. Gorilla Rep will return to free Shakespeare in the park this August, with Julius Caesar, to be performed Fridays & Sundays, from August 7 -30, on the lawn below the New Leaf Café, Parking Area in Ft. Tryon Park. The production, which will be the full, uncut version, is directed by Stephen Fried & is presented to the public for FREE. There will be no intermission, but audiences will be able to leave & rejoin the performance in progress.
