A great, big Broadway season is on its way, with fourteen productions already slated to open in the next few months. With several weeks until the craziness begins, there is still plenty of time to catch up on what's been going on at Broadway's already occupied theaters . The COPA PALM SPRINGS presents Chicago, music and comedy legends Amy Armstrong and Freddy Allen for two performances, July 18 and 19 at 8:00 pm. Amy and Freddy have graced the stages coast-to-coast, both large and small, and in over 20 countries with their one-of-a-kind wit and musical prowess. They have had the pleasure of opening and sharing the spotlight with some familiar (and some not so familiar) names including Kathy Griffin, Mary Wilson and the Supremes, Phyllis Diller, Bea Arthur, Jennifer Holiday and Judy Gold to name a few. In 2009, Amy & Freddy were featured on national television on Entertainment Tonight as part of their work with the NBC reality show "America's Got Talent. They are also the proud multi-recipients of both the Gay Chicago Magazine "After Dark" and Chicago Free Press "Pressie" awards. I had the chance to chat with Amy and Freddy about their upcoming engagement at THE COPA and more - here are a few excerpts from that conversation:

The 2014 Vibrant Voice Awards were presented to Wendie Malick and Robert Forster, and there were special appearances by Sean Hayes, Tracie Thoms, Dan Lauria, Tim Daly, Max Greenfield, Millicent Martin, and Mary Wilson (of the original Supremes). The evening was hosted by Michael Burger.

Submitted by Petite Opera, Chicago suburban Park Ridge's professional 501c3 non-profit opera company, presents its first musical theatre work, 'SNOOPY!!! The Musical' April 25-May 4, 2014. Based on the Charles M Schulz Peanuts cartoon strip, this fun musical focuses on the life of Snoopy, from the puppy farm to his attempts at writing the great American novel. It also follows the Peanuts child characters in their discovery and interpretation of their world as they grow up. Fans of Charles Schulz's strip will recognize Snoopy and his friend Woodstock, Lucy's psychiatrist booth, Linus' blanket and more. The delightful musical includes the upbeat songs 'Poor Sweet Baby,' 'I Know Now,' 'Where Did That Little Dog Go?,' 'The Big Bow Wow' and 'It Was a Dark and Stormy Night.'

Las Vegas-Brass Transit, a tribute act to classic rock-jazz band Chicago, returns to the Suncoast Showroom on March 8 and 9.

The Show Goes On Productions (TSGO) will present an Off-Broadway sized club venue dedicated to both live music and theatre: THE HYBRID. The LAUNCH PARTY will be tonight, February 1st, from 6 - 10pm, followed by a dance party upstairs in the Culture Club. Musical guests include Maximus England Shaban, the dudes from Bromance, the Dudesical, and Mimi Cohen from A Celebration of Laura Nyro - To Carry On.

This weekend, January 24, 25 and 26, the young and talented guest artist Tony DeSare will make his debut with the Houston Symphony, led by Principal Pops Conductor Michael Krajewski, for an evening of contemporary music made popular in the last half of the 20th century. DeSare, a dynamic and entertaining pianist and vocalist, will present a fresh take on radio favorites, as well as his own musical works, in an evening sure to fill audiences at Jones Hall with laughter and memories.
