The year is 1872, the setting is London, and the bet was made at exactly 8:55pm for 20,000 pounds. Or, at least that's how our practical, punctual main character Phileas Fogg would describe the scene. Fogg, a logical and calculated gentleman is willing to bet his entire fortune on the latest claim that with the developments of railways and steam engines, one is able to go around the world in 80 days (I bet you can guess the title of this little play now, huh?). Fogg is so convinced, that he intends to complete the trip himself, with his newly hired servant Passepartout (Braden Hunt), and a few others that get strung into the chaotic voyage along the way.

Orlando Shakes in partnership with UCF invites patrons to the center of the creative process at PlayFest presented by Harriett's Charitable Trust (PlayFest 2018) from November 2 - 4 and 10 - 11, 2018. The two weekend festival features seven readings of new plays in development. Players at The George, one of Houston's largest resident theatre companies, opens its 52nd season with the Jules Verne classic, Around The World In 80 Days! at The George Theater from Friday, September 14th - Sunday, September 30th, 2018, with preview night performances September 12th & 13th. "Around The World in 8o Days" takes the classic story and spins it by using 5 actors to play up to 39 characters. It is a story of adventure and ultimately of love.

Theatre of NOTE continues its 2018 season with its production of For The Love Of (or, the roller derby play) by Gina Femia, directed by Rhonda Kohl. For The Love Of will preview Tuesday and Wednesday, April 24 and 25 at 8pm, and will open on Thursday, April 26 at 8pm and run through Saturday, May 26 at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N Cahuenga Blvd (just north of Sunset) in Hollywood.

The Human Race Theatre Company (HRTC) is proud to introduce the lineup for its 2018-2019 Eichelberger Loft Series - a five-show collection of works that examines specific moments in history-real and imaginary, corrects ancient history and revisits a part of the company's own history. The season, featuring one fierce musical and four engaging plays, begins September 6, 2018. The UK premiere of The Last Ship - the acclaimed musical by the internationally renowned musician Sting - just opened at Northern Stage in Newcastle. The production has a TONY-nominated original score and lyrics composed by Sting. It will play a 4-week season in Newcastle before embarking on a major UK & Ireland Tour. 

Avalon is producing a one-off UKTV Original special from the uniquely talented ensemble The Horne Section. Virginia Stage Company continues its 39th Season with a lighting quick, comical adaptation of the beloved detective novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles, produced in partnership with TheatreSquared. Three actors play more than 20 characters in this hilarious spoof of beastly proportions. Directed by Mark Shanahan, this production is "a sublimely funny adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's classic," which lovers of the Watson and Holmes duo will enjoy.

Mark Brown's Around the World in 80 Days will make its San Diego premiere on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at North Coast Repertory Theatre. Actor and comedian Will Vought takes on the role of Actor 1 where he will portray 19 characters over the course of the show.
