Birdland Jazz Club has announced their line-up of impressive talent for December 2-8.

Bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs and piano rock icon Bruce Hornsby form an undeniable duo as they draw from the deep roots of mountain music to rework Hornsby originals as bluegrass songs as well as perform traditional favorites at Mayo Performing Arts Center tonight, November 21, 2013 at 8 pm.

On Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, the 26th Annual Holiday Historic House Tour, sponsored by the Queens Historical Society, will kick off the holiday season with seven sites participating. Each of these NYC landmarks will offer special activities, refreshments and a glimpse at what life was once like during the holidays. Each site has its own unique story to tell that will be featured along with special holiday programming for the tour.

Friday, November 15th, The Absinthe Cabaret will have their first performance in the Grand Ballroom of The Hermitage Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. Headlining the performance will be Johnny Rodgers, also called The Ambassador of American Music, and local favorite Stephanie Adlington.

59E59 Theaters will present LE JAZZ HOT: HOW THE FRENCH SAVED JAZZ, created by Peter and Will Anderson and featuring their jazz quintet. LE JAZZ HOT: HOW THE FRENCH SAVED JAZZ begins performances on Tuesday, December 3 for a limited engagement through Sunday, December 29. Press opening is Wednesday, December 11 at 7:30 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 PM; Friday at 8:30 PM; & Saturday at 5:30 PM & 8:30 PM; and Sunday at 3:30 PM & 7:30 PM. Please note, there is no performance on December 25 and an additional performance on Friday, December 27 at 5:30 PM. The Louis Armstrong House Museum's Gala 2013 on December 11, 2013 will be a night to remember with a special performance by the Grammy Award-winning Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks and an impressive slate of honorees.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series will present singer Anne Tofflemire in concert on Monday, November 18 at 7pm. Backstage Bistro Award-winning singer Anne Tofflemire returns to New York with her latest show, This Funny World, an evening of popular songs from Rodgers & Hart, Stephen Sondheim, Joni Mitchell, Irving Berlin, Charles Strouse & Lee Adams. Accompanist/music director for the evening will be Ross Patterson. Anne Tofflemire was raised in Northern California, where she starred in the long running San Francisco productions of Side by Side by Sondheim and Rap Master Ronnie. She was discovered by the Academy Award winning lyricist Sammy Cahn, with whom she toured nationally and internationally in his Sammy Cahn: Words and Music. Her other theatre credits include Peter Pan opposite Cathy Rigby, Maria in West Side Story, A Little Night Music, and understudying, as well as going on for Donna McKechnie as Mama Rose in Gypsy. Her cabaret appearances include Town Hall, Firebird Cafe, Delmonico's, and Eighty Eights in Manhattan, the Plush Room in San Francisco, the Gardenia in Los Angeles. Her CD, Let's Face the Music, was released by Harbinger Records.

Performing R&B, Jazz, Country, Soul classics and original tunes, his vocal range is incredible. Oozing charisma, versatility, talent and sheer joy, Movin' Melvin turns classic entertainment into an electrifying performance. The genius of Ray Charles and Sammy Davis Jr. come together through Movin' Melvin's greatness. He combines their songs, dance, comedy sketches and improvisational ability in a "must-see" show filled with singing, dancing, tap, comedy, mime, and robotics that demonstrates why Melvin has shared the stage with such luminaries as BB King, Stevie Wonder, James Brown and Smokey Robinson. He has also appeared in several movies with Willie Nelson.

With a catalog of hit songs that have served as the soundtrack to the lives of legions of music fans worldwide, the incomparable Valerie Simpson will grace the stage at Queens College's LeFrak Concert Hall on Saturday, December 14th at 8:00 PM. Kupferberg Presents hosts the legendary singer and songwriter as she performs the music of her hit-making duo, Ashford and Simpson, which created such classics as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "You're All I Need To Get By," "Reach Out And Touch Somebody's Hand," and many more. Based off the popular Magic Tree House book series by Mary Pope Osborne, A NIGHT IN NEW ORLEANS makes its rolling world premiere at Orlando Shakespeare. Not only does this production introduce young audiences to musical theater, it also provided Orlando public school students with an opportunity to receive a generous book donations from amazing corporate partners. Kids of all ages will enjoy reading the stories and then seeing it come to life on stage.
