Last night, Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, presented Breaking the Code, Hugh Whitemore's biographical drama of Alan Turing, starring BSC Associate Artist Mark H. Dold. Directed by Joe Calarco, performances of Breaking the Code are from today, July 17 through August 2, with a press opening on Sunday, July 20 at 5pm. Broadwayworld was there for the opening.

Barrington Stage Company presented the phenomenally entertaining Fyvush Finkel in a show that is a musical celebration of the 91 year old's long career last night. It is fitting that after a sold out run of his 54 Below nightclub debut Mr. Finkel chose William Finn's Cabaret as his next cabaret appearance. Berkshire audiences were treated to this masterful entertainer who 80 years ago was a star in the pre broadway Yiddish Theater. Known for their international vision of new plays, The Play Company (PlayCo) is pleased to announce that Working on a Special Day, their 2013 co-production with Mexico City's Por Piedad Teatro, has gone on to a series of international engagements, including the Edinburgh Fringe (August 2013), Singapore's M1 Festival (January 2014) and the Adelaide Fringe Festival (February 2014 - Winner, Peace Foundation Award). After an award-winning engagement at the Prague Fringe Festival (May 2014 winner the Performance Award and the Creative Award) the play returns to the U.S. for a run at the Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield, Massachusetts; June 18-July 6. The touring life of this play marks a new level of international exchange in PlayCo's pioneering mission to support a global approach to contemporary theatre.

At a press conference held at Barrington Stage Company's Boyd-Quinson Mainstage, Artistic Director Julianne Boyd announced the theater's 20th Anniversary 2014 season of musicals and plays that will take place in downtown Pittsfield in the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage, St. Germain Stage and Youth Theatre venues in 2014.
