Playwrights Canada Press releases a new anthology celebrating 2SLGBTQIA+ voices in the theatre community. Explore the diverse and powerful stories of this groundbreaking collection.

At a press conference held May 28 in the Davies Takacs Lobby of the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 282 nominations for the 40th Anniversary Dora Mavor Moore Awards, which recognize excellence in professional theatre, dance and opera in Toronto. On Tuesday, June 25 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, 49 Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the Silver Ticket Award and the Jon Kaplan Audience Choice Award will be presented.

Toronto's hottest new musical theatre company, ECLIPSE THEATRE COMPANY (ETC), created by Chilina Kennedy, Evan Tsitsias, and Sara-Jeanne Hosie, proudly presents an innovative and site responsive performance of KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN, presented at the Don Jail in Toronto, March 6 - 10, 2019. The production will bedirected by Evan Tsitsias, and star Tracy Michailidis and Kawa Ada, for 7 performances only, and will be the first theatrical event ever produced at the Don Jail.

Cahoots Theatre Company marks their 30th anniversary with the world premiere of The Enchanted Loom, produced in association with Factory. The debut play by neurologistSuvendrini Lena is directed by Cahoots Artistic Director, award-winning multi-disciplinary theatre artist, Marjorie Chan.

Alan Dilworth delves into Arthur Miller's library for a take on one of his lesser known plays, the one-act INCIDENT AT VICHY. A chilling tale of a scene at the brink of the second World War, the play follows the events of an interrogation room as a group of men await their fate as authorities validate their papers. INCIDENT AT VICHY features a stellar collection of Soulpepper actors, top lined by Diego Matamoros and Stuart Hughes.

The next piece in Factory Theatre's Naked Season is an emotionally-driven and stunning production of SALT-WATER MOON by David French. Directed by Ravi Jain, the production features a diverse cast of Kawa Ada and Mayko Nguyen as post-war lovers in the villages of Newfoundland. Ania Soul serves as the narrator of the story stitched together with live music from the talented Toronto singer-songwriter. This delicate Canadian classic is re-imagined for new audiences and brings forward the best showing of Factory's naked vision yet.

Factory presents SALT-WATER MOON by David French, directed by Ravi Jain, starring Kawa Ada and Mayko Nguyen and featuring live music by Toronto singer-songwriter Ania Soul. Part of Factory's Naked Season, this beloved Canadian classic about love, loss, and reconciliation will be re-imagined through Jain's bold staging in order to ask, 'Can you ever truly return home?' 

The Factory production of BOMBAY BLACK, featuring actor and playwright Anusree Roy, begins tonight, November 18.
